hi there, i have found a course with home learn uk. its a nail technician course 3, it says that it is the equivalent to a nvq level 3 and is recognised as an equivalent. has anyone had any experinence with this course, and does anyone think it is worth considering as i struggle to go and do courses at colleges etc with having 4 children and a husband to run around after lol
cheers for reading

This thread below discusses courses that reckon to be NVQ3 equivalent via home study, and the conclusion is that they aren't...... Without doing practical assessments it isn't and NVQ, and tbh I think there is no substitute for classroom training. Not all nail courses are weeks on end at college - riate company courses tend to be shorter and more intense.....

Still have a read of the thread http://www.salongeek.com/chit-chat/31323-home-study-courses-2.html and this one which lays out the training optrions http://www.salongeek.com/training/27430-answer-most-faq-training-should-i-choose.html

I did a distance learning course through Stonebridge Associated College for a Nail Technician Diploma - cost a couple of hundred quid - and although i learnt alot of the technical stuff which you need to know i still ended up going on another course at college because i felt i needed the hands on teaching too. So in the end, i would have been better off going straight to the classroom, although i know what you mean about running after kids - i've 3 - 2 under 4 - and a single mum! But hey, us women are invincible!!:wink2::wink2:

I was doing a home study course with homestudy.net and was 3/4 of my way through. If it wasn't for this forum and the helpful team at Babtac I would of lost £xxx. Luckily I phoned the college and they gave me my money back.

If I was you I would train with Creative who are a reputable company instead of doing a homelearn course that you wouldn't find beneficial. HTH's:hug:

Hi,

Do call and check that your insurance company recognise the course you are taking, otherwise you could find that you cannot get cover for a qualification you have spent a lot of time and money on.
