I think it depends on whether you can maintain social distancing between clients.
I have quite a small space so I am declining bookings for two friends wanting pedicures, for instance, because they clearly intend to “mix” indoors. I have to think of the risks to my team. People breaking the rules are too big a risk.
I’m based in Bath which is a tourist town. I’ve had a lot of bookings in the past from groups of friends who are sharing Air BnB accommodation and driving up in one car. Last summer I reasoned that they all individually posed the same risk to me and my staff, so I didn’t refuse their bookings, I did however control their arrivals so that they weren’t mixing in my salon. This complied with the law.
Now that I’m a bit more confident about managing Covid I am turning away these bookings rather than trying to bring in extra staff and juggle everything around. I’m not happy to perhaps have several team members infected at the same time. I’d rather lose the extra business by complying with the spirit and intention of the law.
I feel that the risks have gone up a lot more because people are relaxing and mixing far more than last year so I’m being really careful not to let my guard down. I can have more than one client in at a time, keeping them well away from each other, but I’m not accepting double and triple bookings, unless part of the same household.
