My skin is really starting to get me down now and I am unsure as to why it is happening.

Looking back in pictures I had okay skin, not the best but okay, not to many spots and I was reletvitely happy. Recently, well about 6 months or so my skin has been getting a lot worse, I am getting regular spots, my Doctor prescribed me dianette yesterday so I am hoping that will help eventually.

But I know I properly wont be on dianette long term and would like something that can help me long term skin care wise when I come off dianette. To me I haven't changed my routine, I use facial wash and moisturiser for my oily skin type and in the morning an oil free matte moisturiser, the only thing that has changed over the years is the brands but I've never had problems before.

Please can you help or give me some more advice? Thank you.

My friend used to have real problems with her skin and she was prescribed dianette. It worked wonders on her skin (although not for the first few weeks) and her skin looks lovely now. What products have you been using on your skin? Are they well known brands or boots own etc? ( Dont mean to be rude!!) Alpha beta peels from MD Formulations might be good for you, I used to use this in a salon I worked in and was great for acne and congestion! Hope this helps, Laura xx

At the moment I am keeping my skincare really simple as it's tends to be really sensitive as well so yes it is Boots own, I know it Boots but it's cheap and simple. Had no reactions from it so I am using that.
I have tried well known high end brands and they didn't do anything, seemed like I was throwing a lot of money away when Boots works just as nice.

Dermalogica has the medibac range specifically for adult acne. You can click on my skincare link below to have a read up.

my advice would be (not as a skin geek) to persevere with something.

Like if you go with Dermalogica - don't just use it once or twice and think its not made a difference - keep at it. There is a reason why these brands are more expensive than your Boots stuff.

Good lukc

I would say you need to go and have a thorough consultation with a skin therapist. There could be a number of things causing your problems. I highly recommend Dermalogica and they're face mapping consultation and have had superb results on my own skin and my clients. PM me if you like, I'd really like to advise you :) I love fixing peoples skin problems!

Thank you everyone for your advice, I think I am going to go with Alpha H. I have actually tried Dermalogica in the past and my skin seemed to be too sensitive for it, it didn't clear my skin up either. Disappointing, I will go with Alpha H and see what happens as well as being on Dianette.

Thanks again

I would suggest that you try finding an Environ salon near you that offers skin analysis events. You'll actually get to see what is going on with your skin from the images and you'll be given information on the products as well, what you do with it from there is up to you. We have had some really good results and havent looked back since we took it on and now have clients that are happy to go out the door without wearing inch thick make-up. Good luck with which ever avenue you decide to take. Just research thoroughly :0)

Hi there ~ your skin sounds alot like mine  I'm going to the Dr's next week for help cos I really don't feel like leaving the house somedays....anyway I tried Alpha H and found it too strong for my skin ~ have you tried some samples 1st??
I was told that because it's made in Australia the formulation is very strong to deal with their enviroment i.e lack of ozone layer. How true that is I don't know but it made my skin itch & I had erythema. Hope thathelps!!

Be careful that you are not using over-harsh products - these can be marketed as suitable for oily skin, but in fact can over-stimulate it and make the problem worse.
I would also looked at what else changed in your life 6 months ago - extra stress, new medication etc?
Hope this helps!

I have come off Dianette and was faced with the same problems I had when I started taking it. Before I had severe acne on my face and back, then when I was taking Dianette my skin was amazing but it's not healthy to take it forever, coming off it my skin (although not as bad and my back has stayed clear, possibly due to not being a teen) was still not very good.

My comedones didn't return but the pustules did especially around the jaw line where it was very bumpy, which is a good indicator of hormonal acne. As Dianette helped me to control the acne I figured it must be hormonal and so I have decided to treat the condition internally.

My skin care helps to keep the spots more under control but it is never going to be enough on it's own as the problem is an internal one with external symptoms. I am taking a multivitamin with Zinc (for general skin health), omega 3 fish oils (for hydration) and a probiotic tablet daily (to help digestion). I have also reduced alcohol intake to a real low. My acne has reduced to a manageable level and some days I only have the odd spot. Even Environ admits that there is hormonal acne that can't be managed by topical application alone and they offer a nutritional supplement program now too.

Couldnt agree more with weezies comment about hormonal acne. After having dianette and roaccutane, although my skin is clear of the major problem acne I still have breakouts during the month. My skincare routine with Prioris Advanced AHA controls my problem prone skin, but my hormones still love to bite me in the bum!

Hope you are able to get to the root of your skin problem
