hi

i'm a mobile beautician.
i had an email today asking for me to go to a hotel next week to do manicures on a girl and her mum.

how do i stand legally about going to do my beauty treatments in a hotel, is it allowed or will i get in trouble if i am spotted carrying my things to the room.

thanks

tina

I have done quite a few treatments in hotels. I ask the client to check with the the hotel if they mind and I have never had a problem.

i go to hotels quite often too (though it's normally for massage)... i've never had any problem... in fact, sometimes hotels have often contacted me on behalf of a guest so i can't see there being any problem xxx

I cant see this to be a problem at all!
In fact if I was you, I would do the manicures then do a leaflet/flyer drop in all the other rooms in the hotel!
How handy would that be for a mobile therapist?! If you had a few bookings in one day from hotel guests your travel time from each client would be minutes, you wouldnt be back and fourth to the car with stuff!
In fact, you could speak to the hotel manager & ask it they would mind you advertising your "mobile beauty to your hotel room" treatments on their notice board, in the reception, etc.
Or even days before you do the 2 manicures do a flyers drop in the rooms, you could get more clients for the same day.
Leave some flyers at reception, talk to the receptionist say you can do manicures in their lunch break for them there.
Oh listen to me? I am getting carried away

I get call outs to London Hotels and there has never been a problem. They have requested your visit, it's not like you have been roaming the corridors looking for work.
I always go to reception, tell them whom I asm visiting and they give me the room number and show me the way xxx SIMPLEZZZZZ!!!!
Enjoy xxx

Just thought, My sister got married in September & we had a makeup artist & hairdresser come to our hotel rooms, that was no problem, and we never confirmed this with the hotel, (didnt even think you would need to) so you will be fine. x

I never had a problem

Just be careful that your insurance will cover you for outside where you normally work - as your mobile this may include hotels already, but usually the wording is "in clients home" and you are entering buisness premises

I only say this as I got buisness insurance yesterday and was asked if I was planning on treating outside my premises, when I asked about places outside the home, I was told whereever I was undertaking the treatment.

I opted for it , it does add some on to your insurance, think it was under £60, but its piece of mind for me and its given me another string to my bow.

hi emma / all

thanks for them great tips.
i rung the hotel and they are fine with me going to the hotel. good idea about trying to promote in the salon, the one im going to next week is actually a 1 min drive from my house so could you imagine that, that would be bliss.

tina

Your welcome Tina, glad to help :D
That is fantastic a 1 min drive from your home how handy!!
I think after the treatments are carried out, I would be incline to have a drink or 2 or lunch in the hotel so hotel guests would see me siting there in my uniform with my kit by my side pricelists to hand ;) could help get new clients! :Dx
