Hi,

I want to have the www.mas-tans.co.uk domain name which is available on 123 reg but im bit lost on how it all works?Does it come with a website i can make my own or do i have to buy some kind of computer package to make a page ? So my question is if I buy that name does it come with a website I can go in and put all my info on?
Anyone know if this is a good site to get it from or where do you get yours from ?Alot of questions but im totally lost lol

Thanks
Mandy

I have just finished sorting my website out. i designed my website for free on Free website and Free web hosting | Microsoft Office Live Small Business
its very simple to use and i think it looks professional.
And i bought my domain name from 123reg which was also pretty easy sorting that out, if you want a hand i'll happily help you out.

Check my website out if you like to what they can look like

123-reg are actually one of the best people to buy domain names from in my opinion, as they give you excellent control over your domain for no extra cost.

Assuming you don't buy web hosting from 123-reg (they are reasonably priced if you want hosting for a site you've designed yourself, e.g. with Dreamweaver or Frontpage etc, or they also offer a template-based site builder) then there are two main ways of getting your domain name to point to someone else's webspace:

(1) Update the DNS (domain name service) settings; you can specify the IP (internet protocol) address of the web server that you want your domain to point to; this does however require that the web server is configured to host your website for your domain name - if the web server runs Apache then this would be done by your web host in the Apache configuration, for example.

If you just update the DNS records for the web server but leave the MX (mail exchanger) records unchanged, then this will let you use someone else's server for hosting but still use 123-reg for email (they offer email forwarding for free when you have one of their domain names).

(2) Update the nameservers. This means that your web host will be responsible for the DNS (domain name service) settings for your website, and will set them up on their own nameservers.

(DNS works a bit like a telephone directory - the domain name is like the name and the address of the person you are trying to look up in the telephone directory, and the IP address is like their phone number).

I bought our domain from domainmonster.com. You get tools on there to design your website and its pretty easy to use. Free too i think.
