How do you use your e-file to backfill, I always cut the smile line and then remove the white ready to re-apply---unless the clients doesn't want to grow her natural nails then I clip the white off.

But I was just looking on the Tammy Taylor website and she was using the pencil bit...and just created the little trench, left the rest of the white then filled in the trench with white..which I suppose makes sence in a way

How do you do yours, just out of interest?

There is always more than just one way to do things and if your white does not dis-colour with age and all you need to do is replace the smile, then I'd go with the 'little trench' method. If your white yellows with age then you need to use the first method.

Personally I just use a hand file and flatten the area over where I want to place the new smile and then create it and feather the new white into the old (my white never ages so I never get any line showing where I have added). I find this method quick and efficient and less dusty and messy.

If I have used opaque coverage powders to elongate the nail bed, then when needed, I clip off the old white, file in a new smile line and sculpt a new French tip to keep the 'look' going.

on myself i often cut out the smile line. thats because i am more accurate with my file in my left hand than i am with my brush so it makes it easy to place the product for a good smile line.

on clients however i just thin and reapply the tip in much the same manner as you are taught to handfile.
i find it quicker to create a new smile with my brush than it would be to cut all the lines with my efile on clients.
