Hi, do u mean how to create a fanned nail shape using a product like L&p or gel ?
Sorry im just a bit confused as to why they would ask you to do a step by step on how to create a fanned shaped nail ......unless they mean for you to do a step by step on how you would enhance a fanned natural nail shape ....
If you can let me know i might be able to help

Hi, wat it is, is that ive been asked to explain the different nail shapes which can be created with an emery board. for example a round nail, square etc. and i have to explain how you would create the shape for someone who wouldnt know how to. and i dont no how to explain how to create a fanned nail shape. i hope this is now clearer and hopefully be able to help.

Who would want to create a fan shaped nail?? They are UGLY and generally considered to be a misshaped nail or a problem nail.

Our job is to enhance and beautify the look of a client's nails not to make them look ugly.

If a nail is not already fan shaped then you can't make it wider than it is. If it is fan shaped then you would taper it do reduce the wide free edge and make it look straight by angling the file inward at the free edge.

I think you must be confused with this question. Surely no college is going to ask anyone to create a fan shaped nail??? Tell me it isn't so!!!

I hope not! I'm doing my level 3 at the moment and the only thing I can think of here is having to explain how to put a set of enhancements on the different types of nail such as fan shaped.

I've seen a thread on here some time ago about fan shaped nails and I don't care for them at all. I hope no one ever asks me for these

I think what you are talking about is a very regional American thing and not something colleges would be teaching. Nails like that have to be sculpted to get the width and are frankly the most ugly things I have ever seen ... they look like shovels. Unflattering to everyone who wears them and grotesque in my opinion.

Someone has convinced someone that they look good:lol:. Kind of like those duck shoes that look ugly on every living soul apart from a 5 year old, but someone somewhere has managed to convince half the world that they look cool!! Well beauty is in the eye of the beholder they say and my eye tells me different!!

When i first had fan shaped nails they looked really nice and the lady who did it was very experienced and she did it so that the fan was ok;-)

Thanks everyone for your help, I just needed to know how to do the fan shape, just in case I was ever asked by a client.lol. I really hope I'm a lucky one who doesn't have to.

jazzy..girl, don't let anyone scare you into not trying something just because they find it unattractive. if you want to learn how to do fan shaped nails, by all means learn how to do them..because in the long run, you will be the one making money while the other techs will be turning their nose up at them..plus who knows, you may start a new trend in your area.

just like those duck shoes that geeg mentioned..she may not like them, but somebody does..or they wouldn't be buying them.

If anyone out there was ever asked by a client for fan shaped nails please let me know... ha ha I doubt it somehow!!.. mad!

I AM from the states and have to say these are the ugliest nails ever! I remember the first time I saw them I thought ,"that poor client actually paid for those things!" Goes to show, you can sell anybody anything if you believe in it.
