Looking for some advise from you professional hairmessers out there, lol!

I've had my hair dyed blue black with red slices for about 3 years now. It used to last for ages, but the last 3 times it has faded really quickly. After only about 6 washes it just looks dark brown with a reddish cast.

Anyway, I fancy a change tbh. I could quite fancy going a chocolate brown with creamy blonde bits (that's a technical term :green:)

There is a pic of me in my profile, do you think my hair would lift to a creamy blonde or go horribly wrong cos it's too dark and to reddy? I'm talking about going to a professional to get it done, stopped messing with home colours many moons ago!

I don't actually know what my natural colour is anymore cos I've had it coloured for over 20 years now. It used to be mousy, but judging by my roots, I think it is now quite dark.

Any help appreciated

Hi, I am only a student and there might be a better advise around, but I am a bit conserned, because you say that the color fades really quickly or at least faster than it used to. That could be a bit of a sign damage in your hair. So basicly, if you color it again, the color would dry your hair really badly and the color might not take propally. you should get some protein treatment in it to bring back the zing in your hair. My advise is to go into a good salon with the color specialist in it and talk to them. At least what they would most likely do is to put a test color on and see what happenes. Good luck!

Thanx for your reply hun! I don't think it's damaged..... It's really shiny, bouncy n not at all dry. But, hey I know as much about hair than Trevor McDonald knows about nails, so couldn't say for sure, lol. It feels the same as it always has. But I'll bear that in mind, thanx

When your color fades fast it is one of two things...
1) too porous and won't hold the color anymore
2) using wrong shampoo.

How often are you getting haircuts?
How often are you giving yourself a GOOD moisturizing and/or protein treatment?

I have it cut every 5-6 weeks as it's short so need the regular trimming.

I use Ojon shampoo and conditioner and apply a deep restorative mask once a week. It doesn't feel porous and when I've mentioned it to my hairdresser, she wasn't sure why my colour wasn't lasting as she said my hair was in very good condition.....

Do you think that I could get slices to lift as far as a creamy blonde or am I asking for miracles, lol!

Without seeing your hair and the level of fadage it is, it is really quite difficult to say yes or no.
BUT professionally speaking.....
I would have to say you would not achieve the creamy blonde you desire with a easy color application. Carmel tones maybe.

The hair cuticle is damaged evertime you put color or bleach on it.After several years of this your cuticle is blown open and when you use moisturzers, the moisturizers fill those porous holes leaving your hair feeling silky and smooth. But it isn't a permanent fix and your hair is still in a porous state. I am not saying your hair is a wreck. ;) Just the facts Hun.
