Hi everyone: I am a newly qualified Nail Tech using LCN. I am not sure if it's coz it's summer and people's nails are just growing fast or if it's my lack of experience, but I notice even on my own nails that they seem to grow out fast and sometimes lift after about a week. I am pretty vigilent with nail prep, but wonder if I should be doing something else to prevent this. I am getting better at keeping the gel from the cuticles.. anymore tips?? :)

Gel nails should typically last as long as any other enhancement service, 2-3 weeks. Nails shouldn't lift after a week even with accelerated nail growth. Something is wrong somewhere .. either prep or home maintenance or application.

Keeping the gel away from the eponychium and other surrounding soft tissue will help the lifting problem but if there is still a barrier between the gel and the natural nail, preventing proper adhesion, you will still be in trouble. Hav eyou considered the length of enhancments you are doing and whether excessive length is putting too much pressure on the zone 3 area?

I find that many new technicians make their nails WAY too long to be practical for the client after a weeks growth, and the cleint is stuck with it until the next appointment as most clients do not want to touch their nails in between (pretty much defeats the object of having them done). Choose a length for the enhancment at the full set appointment that suits the client's life style and that will still be a practical length in 2-3 weeks time at the maintenance appointment. Doing this will simplify many things for you and will ensure that maintenance appointments are about maintaining and not correcting problems.
