Hi, I'm getting frustrated with a certain client. I've not been doing nails for very long! This certain client I have keeps losing nails and I seem to be replacing them for free!!!!! ( I am quite soft!!! and stupid obviously!!!) Just wondered how you other girls get around this and how much you charge for replcing lost nails?????

Are you salon or mobile based?? If you are mobile you need to set out a standard rate for repairs to allow for your petrol etc.
If in a salon most people charge a set rate dependant on how much the price is for a full set hun x

In my salons we charged what worked out to be basically .50 per minute (in our reckonings) therefore assuming it takes about 10 minutes to do anything in the line of repairs, it was a minimum of 5.00 just to come in and sit in the chair.

Doing repairs for a pro-rata price per full set, is unrealistic to my way of thinking. You loose money doing it that way.

Doing repairs for FREE is just plain nuts. You are giving out all the wrong signals to your client.
1. that you yourself are taking the blame for her breakages.
2. that you don't trust your own ability to do a job that lasts
3. that you are insecure in dealing with clients (and boy do they take advantage of that one)
4. that SHE has the upper hand

Best put a stop to it instantly.

i dont charge for repairs, i find alot of my customers keep coming back to me because of this, with clients who constantly are using nails i discuss with them what could be causing them to loose the nails, one lady we worked out she was using a hand cream that didnt work with the bio-sculpture gels and she no longer uses it and rarely looses nails!
may be she isnt wearing gloves when cleaning/washing up, may be a body oil causing them to lift, not using acetone free nail polish remover?
even reapplying a top coat every 3-4 days can make all the difference!

if i havnt done the original set of gels i charge around £3 for repair, depending what needs repairing!

a good idea is to put repairs on your price lists, maybe putting "From £?"
then when they come in for a repair state before you start the repair will cost however much

hope this helps x

Dont blame them, i would keep coming back too! I have clients who never take my advice but they never have nails fall off only breakages or damage but I never do it free because they walk out with my advice, if they dont take it then its not my fault!! Dont do it free as that tells the client its YOUR fault.

I include 2 FREE repairs when they have there infill appointment but after that i charge £2 per nail BUT if its outside there infill appointment it £3 per nail. I think at the end of the day of the sign your consultation form they have agreed that they are responsable for any repairs and that they have to pay for them. HTH

Im mobile and charge £5 for a repair.

Im really strict with new clients, just so they get the lay of the land but am more relaxed with clients who've been coming for ages. With them I know when its an accident and when its not, if they're honest (which they all are now) then if they've got a couple of repairs at the same time I maybe just charge them for one.

Karaxxx

Im salon based and i charge 3.50 per repair....they get one free breakage per set then i charge.

£5 per nail in our salon honey:)

Hmmm maybe my charge should go up .....

I'm salon based and charge £3 per nail for a repair.

However, I'm thinking of putting the price up, as by the time I've got my stuff set up and repaired the nail, I could have fitted in a half leg wax or a couple of spray tans!!

HTHs xx

I charge 5 euro per nail repair or if its a repair along with infills i charge 4 euro as that nail isnt being infilled. So my clients gain confidence with me I always say if their nails need any repairs within 1 week they will be done free of charge as i am confident that this will never happen. Therefor both me and the client know where we stand with prices, i dont agree with putting from....euro as to me this is off putting for I client.

For one broken nail, we charge 10% of the cost of full set. And it always goes plus to rebelance. I think that's a good point, as this work is really worth of 1/10 of the total full set - you use the same amount of your products, your work and your time. Besides, if the client came to repair only one nail, it even takes more time, as you have to spend it to opening and closing the bottles, taking the polish off, etc.
I totally agree with Geeg.
Just make a new line in your price list for it. ;)

Hi,

I include one repair for a rebalance and charge $4 each repair there off... :)
