I really struggle with marketing etc hence why I don’t really do it! The only thing I do is post pics etc on my Facebook page. How much time do you all spend marketing?

I wonder too. I was chatting with someone once and they said at least 30% of their time was spent on marketing. And to be honest it sounds sort of right to me, but would be interesting to hear what everyone does....

How's posting on Facebook working for you? Is it bringing people in?

I recommend Facebook Ad manager...it does all the work and super targeted.

Facebook hides my posts from page likers, stops my from posting in more than 5 groups, and when I do an add it gets me very little engagement let alone generating appointments. I feel like it’s such a con.

Any down time I have while at the salon I spend on advertising. I also set aside at least 2 hours every Sunday evening to schedule all the posts from my FB page for the week.

Marketing is really important for promoting your business. However, doing a great job and having people do the promoting on your behalf is also a valuable tool! A client who advocates for you/your salon is the best form of social proof.

It doesn't have to be costly either. As you say, you are already posting pictures on Facebook - which is a great form of advertising. Are you encouraging your clients to like your page to increase outreach?

Have you considered changing up your window display if you have one? This can help attract new customers by showing what products you sell to entice them inside.
Thinking about seasonal displays is also a good approach to marketing. Halloween is coming up and Christmas right around the corner - is there anything you could do benefit your business with these in mind? Gift cards, a masterclass for clients specialising in hair/makeup for Christmas?

I don’t have a window display I work from my home salon x

Have you tried Slide shows for pictures. Its a great way to show more and you can add music and a logo.

There are all sorts of tricks for engagement. Wish I could post them all here but it's probably not allowed. Ill check the rules as I have them all on my website.

Ahh got it! Sorry! Maybe consider Instagram for promotion? As you can upload your pictures as you do to Facebook and maybe reach a wider audience or different demographic? :)

I’d love some info on how to work the Facebook ads as I’m clueless. I’ve paid for some but never had any luck on getting new clients or likes for my page.

Yes its such a waste of money isn't it when they don't work. Still not sure if I can post links on here though as I don't want to get into trouble!! I have a website with lots of blogs that deal with all the facebook questions for salon owners. its a great resource. Plus a page and a group where you can ask questions. it's very helpful :)

That sounds great, could I have the name of the website please and I can take a look x
