Hello geeks! Iv been mobile since august 2011. Im
confident in my work and im
trying to build up but i finding 1 minute im busy and the next im not,but its keeping these newbies and gaining newbies thats difficult. Any tips? And has any1 any usefull advertising ideas that they have found to work? please help x

Recommend a friend cards can be printed fairly cheap, good to get new introductions offer a discount for the new client then a thank you discount for the client who recommended them.

Offer a discount if they rebook their following appt when they leave, or perhaps you could get cards where after 5 appts they receive a free product then after 10 appts another.

My friend is freelance she also will do a 'hair party' where if she has a few clients who know each other they (say 3/4 people) they go to one persons house and she offers a group appt with a 10% discount-saves her petrol if she only has one trip!
It must be hard and don't undersell your work because your costs are high but if you can afford to give little incentives for people to rebook that will help knowing 6/8 weeks down the line they are back in :)

Really like the idea of group bookings, now that petrol is so expensive it would save time & money. Thankyou. How long has your friend workd for herself now? x

She has had a mixed clientele of salon and home for about 3 years. Since having her little boy she has worked on building up mobile but also kept a day in the salon. She went completely freelance about 10weeks ago. Again he has worked off recommendations mainly, she make sure they rebook And will send an SMS reminder a week before so she doesn't end up driving to appts when people forgett and also for example will add in the text- what the appt is for. So if it's just a cut she will say 'are we doing your colour next time?' or 'do the kids need doing' gets them thinking about other services!

Yes petrol is so expensive!

Sounds brill, its nice to know that you can do well going mobile. Your friend seems to know what she's doing & its working :) Thanku for the advice x
