Hi
Just after some advice on make up courses. I've done a few different make up courses and now realise that is my real passion and would like to become a professional make up artist can anyone tell me the best way to achieve this and what courses do you recommend? xxx

What make up courses have you already done ?

hi
it was covered briefly at college and then later on i went on a foundation make up course, special occasion course and bridal course all at ellisons xxx

Did none of them courses qualify you as a makeup artist?

Alot of it comes down to practice. I'm not sure what knowledge you already have because I don't know of them courses. Did you get any certification? You will nee to know the basics like hygiene and brush maintenance, as well as makeup techniques. Hope this made sense, I'm on my phone at the moment and it's not showing the screen properly.

i hav certificates from all of them to say i attended and passed and for insurance but wen for example i applied for my mac pro card they say i'm just a beauty therapist who does make up if that makes sense? xx

they all went over hygiene and brush maintenance etc but im looking for something more in depth x

Oh right. I'm not sure of the requirements for the pro card, maybe you need to be actively working as a professional makeup artist?

If you have done training and learnt the basics and been qualified as a makeup artist then there is nothin stopping you from going out and offering makeup services. But idk what you have to do to get a pro card. Do they stipulate on the website?

If you have all the basics but are looking for something more theory then I can't suggest QC Makeup Academy more. I qualified through them, they are online and you submit photos etc. If you want to see some of my work that I have done for assignments etc chek out my Facebook page Jemma Makeup Artist | Facebook

i do hav the card but u dont get the full discount and its the same with a few other places like i sed they say that ur a therapist hu does make up not an mua. i feel confident in make up and hav done quite a bit and hav more work booked in as well i just wanted to find a more in depth course as this is what i want to specialise in and would love to work on fashion shoots etc so i know i would need a good portfolio but also training from an accepted school or course.

Have a look at some of the professional training academies, who are taught by top make up artists. All of these 4 week plus courses will qualify you for a mac pro card, Illamasqua pro card, MUF, PAM, Maq pro etc etc. A lot of these courses also come with aftercare plans, with free masterclasses and a bunch of contacts to get you started.

London Muse
Aofm
Christine Blundell

There are loads more, these were just the ones I researched before booking.

Take your time and find one that you like, that are helpful and gives you everything you need, then go for it :)

Good Luck
