Hey everyone

Ive been looking through older threads on those of you that are mobile therapists but I haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. Ive only posted one thread a year ago so sorry If I do anything wrong!

I'm currently renting a room within a hairdressers and have been doing so for just over a year. Some months I do well and then all of a sudden it goes back to being so quiet that I only just make the rent on the room let alone all of my other outgoings like my mortgage etc. I know that it takes time to build a business and I have been putting in the effort doing countless leaflet drops various offers and other promotional events. I have a great group of regulars just not enough. I can't really go on much longer like this as I am nearing the end of my savings. By looking on here I have also found that the rent on my room is quite alot considering I'm not on a main highstreet etc.

I would really like to go mobile but I was just wondering how well you mobile therapists do? for example do you have enough work to live. I know that it depends on a number of factors like advertising etc. I don't want to know how much money your taking obviously but more of how busy you are and on average how many clients do you get a week?

Thank-you so much inadvance

Lily xxxx:lol:

I'm not or never have been mobile so wont be much help,
but if you are renting the room then you are self employed and the clients are yours so you are in your rights to do a survey with the clients,
ask them if you were to work mobile would they still use you as their therapist,
the ones that don't come very often you could text or write to,
this would give you a head start for a list of mobile clients if you decide to take it up,
most mobile therapists find most of their work through word of mouth and a website.
hth

Thank-you loubylou I will definately ask my clients. Thank-you for replying so quickly x

I'm mobile and work 9am - 3pm Monday to Friday and from 6:30pm onwards 3 nights a week. On average I see around 13 - 15 clients per week, some weeks I'm much busier - 20ish clients is my capacity really - and like you some weeks are quieter.

It's taken time for me to get to this position, I've been doing this mobile for 4 years, but I really enjoy it. I only do nails, mainly enhancements, and I have a client base of mainly loyal regulars.

The advantage of quieter weeks when you're mobile is not having any rent to pay, and the choice of doing chores or shopping in the quiet spells!!!

thank-you yvette. Yeah that sounds good. Shopping or chores? now i wonder what i'd prefer lol x

Going mobile is really hard in the beginning. You wont have a shop front for people to know that your there so you really have to work your butt off at advertising.
A lot of business comes from word of mouth. Look after your clients and they look after you.
I am guessing you already have your products? As that is another issue in the beginning, all your wages seem to go on making your business bigger and better.
To be honest, and this is just my opinion...leaflet drops are a waste of money and time. I like to concentrate on advertising in different ways that will be more affective.
The treatments I do each week vary really.I do mostly spray tans and can do anything from 10-20 clients a week(without other bits and bobs). So about £400 without taking off tax, petrol and product.
Hope that helps xxx

Thank-you Kylie that has really helped. your right about the leaflet drops I have just learnt the hard way xx

Oh me too and i'm sure just about everyone else on here
Ps- dont know why my last message posted twice, it wont let me delete it :irked: xxx

I agree about the leaflet drops too :irked: I think my best advert is my website and word of mouth, I dont advertise in YP or newsagents now either because I didnt find that brought much business my way.

I do an average of 10 tans per week, some weeks more, some less. I sometimes look ahead in my diary and think I havent got much booked in then all of a sudden the phone wont stop ringing and I end up busy! on the other hand I sometimes think i'm busy and get a few cancellations for one reason or another, normally friends letting people down at parties!

You just never can tell..
