Just wondering as I, like most, put an offer on once a month.
I had an offer on spray tanning for £15 ages ago. A client that I had sprayed for this offer had given my number to her friend who called me and said ' I want a spray tan tomorrow for £15' I explained this offer had expired and the current offer is even better because if she brought a friend along then I would spray HER for £10.
She said 'oh that is too short notice to get someone this quick'
(Like spraying you tomorrow isnt :irked: ) So anyway I explained they are cheap enough at £20 and she would be welcome to look about for a better price but she wasn't likely to find one.
She called me the next day saying that she couldn't find someone so wont bother. For the sake of an extra fiver!

So I left it at that as I just dont see it as fair on my other clients.

What do you guys do in a situation like this? Do you bend the rules a little or stick to your guns?

xxx

If an offer is over then its over......you wouldnt go to tescos and ask for the beans that were 50p last week but have now gone up to 60p!

Would you??

i would have said politely the offer has finished etc.. its just like anything else if the offer or deal has expired..

anyway you offered her another deal and she didnt want it...

I know...I would rather a £10 one than £15 wouldn't you?
Oh well , guess we cant please everyone can we xxx

I'd stick to my guns too!

Out of interest, if she brings a friend and pays a tenner, how much does the friend pay?

The friend pays £20 full price. Some usually split it so it's £15 each and some don't. But I don't care what they do
I then tell the full paying client to bring a friend next time (a different friend) to get HERS for £10.
I have got so many new clients from it, which i'm glad about because I wasn't too sure how it was going to go xxx

sounds good! :green:

Good girl, stick to your guns! I think you were more than fair and offered her an even better deal so don't worry. She'll probably phone you again next week and take you up on it x

God i must be soft
i would have bent the rules but explained that it was only this once and if she wanted save money on her next appointment to bring the friend.

In my opinion offers aren't wrote in stone and I would have used my discretion. If I had free time I would have done the offer explaining that the offer was over but as she was refered by an existing client I would honour just this once. I wouldn't lose a potential client for the sake of a fiver. :)

As this is good practice to stick with your promos. Of course you have the discretion to perform a service at discount if you wish, but I would not make it a habit. I only want clients that pay what I am asking and not be trying to nickle and dime me. I have found that giving discounts in these types of situation don't create repeat business anyway. So basically you saved yourself a headache.

This is so very true! I have hardly any returning clients from the £15 offer (which is one of the reasons i stuck to my guns)
But have loads from the refer a friend. I wasn't fussed about loosing that client as I am so busy with the full price tans and someone did actually book into the slot she wanted anyway.
xxx

plus, she would always expect/demand it for 15 pounds! and tell her mates and they would push their luck and expect it for 15 pounds too! I still think you did the right thing

I agree with Jaffacake...if you give it to them once they will expect it every time they call and if they are anything like the pushy clients i've had in the past they would tell their friends to do the same....then you'd be doing all these tans for a price you don't want to charge whilst smiling through gritted teeth when spraying them!!!!!

I do also think there is room for discretion but this is down to you, not when you feel like your being pushed into something.

xx
