I've just bought the Urban Tan Caddy and airbrush system - similar to the Fantasy Tan system I believe. Problem is even the darkest tan of the Urban Tan range - Sunset - is not coming out dark enough for some of my dancer clients. Sunset is meant to be extra dark, but is coming out a natural tan. When I apply the tan with a mitt it is very dark. My training was very inadequate with this spray unit and I was advised to leave the settings 'as is'. I have tried adjusting the gun to let out more liquid, but my clients end up too wet with solution. All my tans are very even, just not very dark. I've just got a contract with a local body building group and I need advice very soon. PLEASE PLEASE HELP!

You could go over twice or try a different solution.Get some samples from other companies. There is no reason for you to just have one solution if it doesn't meet your needs. Many therapists use two.

I agree with the last post. Try out samples. I work for Sienna X as a sales consultant for NI and if you want I'll come and demo our tan for you.

Hope you get sorted soon. xx

Why do you think it is your machine that is causing the tan not to be dark enough and not the solution? I havent used the machine or the solution you mentioned but I just dont think it is the machine.

Do try alternative solutions - some companies do drops where you can boost the darkness of the tan. I dont use these as I find if you use a too high strength solution then the fade isnt as natural looking.

My initial though was insufficient solution being applied however if you are saying that the client is ending up to wet..indicating plenty of solution is being applied.

You mention that when applied with a mitt the tan is fine which seems to indicate there isn't a problem with the solution.

So I'm a little confused here......and I suspect that the real problem here lies with application.

Dancers do like a dark colour which can make your job very difficult to find the balance between to much and to little solution being applied.
To much can result in DHA overload and to little..well an unhappy customer.

From what you are saying you have only recently qualified so I would suggest that you give things a little more time..trial more customers and you will soon find the right balance of solution volume.

You do have a slight advantage having an airbrush system over a HVLP one in that you can in fact apply a good base coat and then waft over the whole body after with a top coat.

This route should allow the solution to penetrate the skin and dry much easier than a single application of a lot of solution.

In conclusion...keep practising and you will get there...if you do feel your training was inadequate ..well revert back to your trainer and express your feelings and ask for a top up session.

I am sure that given time and some perseverance that it will just"click"
