hi guys im newjoined today please can anyone help me im having real trouble with my acrylic / gel applications im practising on friends until im good enough but i cant seem to get rid of a "cloudy look" finish its so annoying im not sure if its buffing it after the acylic application or not can anyone give me some help/advise on how to improve.. thanks x

who are you trained/training with hun??

i trained with CIBT back in march

um i haven't heard of them???? lol sorry which product brand are you using hun x

im still abit confused with your application.is it gel or acrylic you want help with?
can you go through your application for us?:)

i trained at CArlton institute beauty in windsor
i do gel and liquid powder but i have the cloudy priblem with lp, i find gel easier thoughi havent quite got the hang of blending!!
app.. after putting the tip on i use nail prep put white tip powder on then the acrylic then after it has dryed i use a file then buff it is that where im going wrong???

is your mix ratio correct e.g to wet?

yes it is like the pic but all over the nails, it also takes ages to dry, so i put it under the uv lamp ill try again tomorrow making my mixture more dryer, maybe the mixture is wet

read through all the replys on the thread i posted hun and that will help you out xx:green:xx

thank you so much been a great help, hopefully i will get the hang of it soon... how do you dry the mixture is putting under thelamp a good way its supposed to be self drying but it doesnt

what is the name of the products you are using?

no you don't put l&p under the lamp hun you need to use less liquid on you brush and practise you mix ratio..

my best advise is to try and do more training if you are getting these types of problems because when you are on your own you don't know who to solve them..you could end up doing more damage without realising hun...

training is sssssssoooooooo important, personally i think 1 course it not never enough i have been doing nails 5 years and i still am taking training course!!!!

hope this helps

Hey huni,
If you are using normal L&P you should not have to put the product under the UV lamp.
Did you cure the product under a UV lamp when you did your course????
There are some UV arcrylics out on the market, low odour or odourless.
By the sounds of it, if you are getting clouds on the nail plate then your ratio is out of wack.
here is a link to a fab tutorial on this:

thank you so much for your help/advise geeks it helped so much i went away and practiced loads and i got it right in the end!!!!!!
i think i will try the 1on 1 courses 1 defo isnt enough x

Hi,my advice to you is to get your self on a conversion course asap with a with a professional brand..ie:cnd or ezflow.

I done my training at this place too, when I left there I went through the whole of the shelves at Sallys trying all the different l&ps and gels,..what alot of money I wasted ,I had endless probs, you are far better off getting trained in a prof.product, and if your still getting minor probs CND or Ezflow are there to help you,I used to find with the Carlton if I phoned them theyd be too busy training and never got back to me.

Youll find different l&ps need a different ratio and different gels need different lamps..The Carlton dont tell you this.
