Hello all you 'Confused of Geekland'

Roughly speaking, the skill units in Level 2 are manicure, pedicure, artificial nails application and maintenance (fibre system only but called wraps!!) and basic nail art.

Hooray! I understand it much more now! I am planning on getting me dem letters on a bit of paper but I have my own questions, similar to Nailsinlondon's;

I am waiting for my VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Nail Treatments. How much of the NVQ level 2 will this cover? I am also training at The Nail Centre in Spixworth, Norwich (last day tomorrow actually) after which I should receive a 'certificate of completion'. Will this cover me for the nail application and maintenance part? I too did the M2 M74 health & safety this year. The only other part is the nail art, which I hope to get when I have made a bit of money from my business!

Thanks for the great replies to this thread, it really is helping me sort out where I want to be. And once I get me an NVQ level 2 I'll go for level 3 then on and on! EDUCATION, YEAH BABY!
:green: :lol: :p :D :biggrin:

Hi Teena
Without looking at the VTCT cert it's difficult to say exactly how far you have gone. But........VTCT certs tend to be based on the NVQ standards. Look at the website I suggested and you will get a much better idea.

Not sure what a 'Certificate of Completion' means! The most important bit is that you can 'do the job' to the level the standards require. This can be done by assessment only at certain centres (e.g. SAC centres)

Glad to see you have the right attitude and agree with learning and qualifications!

Please ask any questions about the subject and I will be more than happy to help.

NAILSINLONDON!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for the big hugs! Like you, I am happy to be of help. Also. well done with your attitude about the new salon near you. If everyone was like that what a happy world it would be!

OK I've been looking on the HABIA site, and here's some links that people may find useful (I did! By the looks of this, I have covered all the relevant parts for an NVQ 2 or 3 already, except the Nail art! YEAH! Hopefully I can submit the work I already did on my make-up artist course for some of it)

main info on the new standards http://www.habia.org.uk/educator/national_occupational_standards-new.htm

NVQ level 3 Nail Services Structure info: http://www.habia.org.uk/downloads/beauty%20therapy/Level%203/Nail_Services_Level_3_Qualification_Structure.pdf

this was all very interesting for me, hope others find it helpful!
