was just having a browse on the IBD site & they are doing a product that sounds similar to Shellac & is available from summer 2010!!! not sure if its just the US thats launching it then though, any ibd techs in US know anything about it?

From the web site "[IIbd Gelac™ is a light-weight gel polish in a bottle that provides gorgeous color and coverage, UV cures in just minutes and lasts for 14 days. When it's time for removal, Gelac soaks off in just 10 minutes! It's that easy! "

Sounds very similar to something else doesn't it .....
Minx , blinks .....
I don't know what this product is like it may be very cool but I am I hate it that things cant think of an original name for them self's and try to ride on something else's success,

Looses points on originality for me .... Even before trying it!

ha ha ha! Sorry I have to laugh! oh my gosh. Whatever next eh?

If you don't make dust you eat dust ... there must be allot of people choking now ...

Shellac is the bomb and no one, despite what they say ,has anything like it.

Shellac is not a gel. Do a search and see.

Either they really were lacking originality, or they're preying on the ignorance of some nail techs who'll confuse them for Shellac.

Either way, tsk tsk tsk.

Not having SEEN the product, I'm guessing it's going to be comparable to Geleration, or Gelish. I don't thinks it's a gel/polish hybrid like Shellac, but rather a SOG in a polish bottle.

I don't think that their name is as much a ploy to confuse techs, or capitalize on CND's success as much as it is a description of what the service is "gel lacquer."

Actually Gelac was registered before Shellac was but held back till they got the formula and stock levels right. Also it can be cured with a normal UV lamp so no need to buy a new one just for curing gelac. I think I will we trying some of this as I can't get Shellac for love nor money and now have clients screaming for it. I don't want to lose these clients so am willing to give this a try. Also it is a bit cheaper than shellac

hi, so i know we all know of and love shellac but has anyone tried this gelac as like previous thread said you cant get shellac and clients want to try this style of service.
i saw gelac at olympia and it seemed a good price , but just wondered if anyone had tried it and what they thought ??

Hi I havent tried it but I saw it at olympia and all 12 colours look exactly the same! They did their best to flog it to me and if they had a better colour range i may have bought it as I use IBD gels.

I wouldnt like to stock shellac but its been out of stock for what seems like an eternity!....Any news on when it may be available? Maybe Geeg?
It does worry me that I will invest in it and then not be able to get the product due to stock issues.

How are you girls that are using Shellac finding the stock issues? x

Yes I saw it at Olympia too & near enough all the colours on the Gelac wheel they had painted were identical to the Gelish colours.
Although no where near the colour choice.

Maybe they are trying to copy both GEL ishshell AC :lol::lol:

Oh, Also noticed Gelac-14 ml bottles, instead of Gelish15ml.
Every little bit helps.x
