I am hand making some gift certificates... I also scrapbook so i was thinking of using some of those loverly little things on them...

Do you have an expiry on yours?.. how long?

Do you write the cost of the service or just the nail service?.

Do you have a little product with them.... like a mini solar oil etc?...

Thanks for your help

I make mine myself in publisher and print them off on scented card.

I have an expiry date on mine, 6 months. I do put the price of the service on mine incase they want to change it to a different service. Also I do sell a few certificates that are just for a dollar amount. I usually write 'Services to the value of $100' where the service would normally go. When it's for a service, I put the dollar amount on the side of the certicicate with the other 'official' info such as expiry date.

I put a unique number at the top of all my certificates too. With this number I can keep a record of all certificates that have been sold and when they are redeemed. Because I make them myself, it wouldn't be too hard for someone to try forging a certificate themselves.

I hadn't thought of including a free gift, but the last salon I worked in would deliver a bunch of flowers with the certificate. This was optional and at extra cost but it was very popular.

Thanks Ange,
That sounds like a good idea... You know sometimes people dont feel like they are giving a gift when it is just a slip of paper... so I wanted people to really love the certificates... I was even thinking of having different ones for occassions...
Ie Birthdays, valentines day etc... with either a mini solar oil or a creative lotion.. cheap but loverly too.
can you send me a pic so i can copy...lol
thanks mel

I forgot to add... If the certificate is just for a dollar amount I include my treatment menu with it. My certificates are the same size as my folded menu, so I put this behind the certificate in a nice metalic purple envelope.

If you want to pm with your email address I can send you a copy of mine to have a look at. Just don't pinch my background, lol. It's part of my logo.

I have also got Sothys gift certificates, but these are only used for sothys facials/product. Everything else, I use my own.

I really like the idea of including a mini solar oil. Would you give it to the person buying the certificate to give with the certificate, or give it to the customer when they come in?

Ange,
I would prob give it to the customer buying the certificate... so they have a "gift" to give with the gift voucher... My girlfriend who i do scrapbooking with is going to sit down with me and we are going to make a few to display in the salon... somewhere .. running out of room..
Thanks i wont pinch your logo..... sounds like it is a nice one tho....lol

where are you in australia?.

Scrapbooking the gift certificates sounds really nice. I've been thinking about doing my portfolio as a scrapbook when I get the time.

I don't have an actual logo yet, I've got a flower picture that I use as a background on all my advertising material, with my business name written over the top.

I'm in Rockhampton, central Queensland. Where are you?
