I've been working at a new salon now after leaving my old place beginning of this year.

Since I've been here, my timing is getting worse (I used to do full set in 45mins but now it takes me 1hr 30mins at least. In-fills would take only 30mins including any repairs but now takes me longer than doing a full set!).

Most of the nails that come back are always lifted within 2 weeks (my nails hardly ever lifted at old place. Customers can go 4-5 weeks with no lifting even when there is a huge growth gap at cuticle area).

My filing technique is bad. It's like I can't control clients fingers and have never held a file before.

I haven't changed my method or the products that I use and can only put it down to maybe the fact that I'm doing mainly pedicures/manicures at new place and hardly any nails. When I say hardly, I mean an in-fill or two a day at the most, not even a full set!

I'm so depressed. You're supposed to get better with experience but I'm the other way round:cry::grr:

Don't let it get you down chick. It's like you say your not doing as many nails so have more than likely just got out of the swing of things.
Maybe it would be an idea to have some one to one time with your trainer to get your mojo back.
Also maybe you could promote the nails more (if you have'nt already) to get more clients in. Before you know it you will be back on top form!!
Chin up, things always get better! xx:hug:

I would really struggle to do a full set of extensions I was happy with in 45mins. An hour and a half in my opinion is a good time when doing a full set.

If you have mainly been doing mani / pedi / infills, maybe it's just getting back into it again.

Are you using different products in the new salon?

Sam xx

Just re read your post...Sorry, You are using the same products.

I agree, maybe arrange a one to one or even some time with a fellow nail tech to get your mojo back. I'm sure this has happened to a lot of us at sometime or other.

Don't worry - you will get there XX

Sounds like a refresher class is in order. No one here can tell you what you may be doing or not doing. My opinion is one doesnot forget how to do nails once you know how.

I have to say I CERTAINLY COULD NOT DO A FULL SET I WAS HAPPY WITH IN 45 MINUTES!! Not ever, and I have been doing nails for 25 years.

I can do a full set in 30 minutes now with PopIts though, if I have to.!! :green:

Absolutely a refresher day will be what you need and probably teach you some tricks you didnt know, sometimes it just what we need to kick start our memories and lose our bad habits that we form along the way. It takes me 1.15 - 2 hr to do a full set depending on the clients nails etc so dont stress too much on time for now. Good luck I am sure you will get it al back.

I am on the quest of getting my times down at the moment, but I will not compromise on quality. On average it takes me 1hr 15mins to do a full set of sculptured nails, and the rebalancing varies depending on the nails length and style from 1hr 10mins to 1hr 30mins. Some days I am really on the ball and can do the active length clients in just over 1 hr. I would like to get consistantly good at rebalances 1hr - 1hr15mins. Most of my clients wear forever french and I do traditional rebalances. (I am practicing other techniques on some clients, however at this stage I am not as fast - more practice required) :)

The only time I can do a full set in 45 mins is if I cheat and use French tips or get out the Popits!

It usually takes me about 1.5 hours to do a regular set of French nails - that sounds like the average to me.

Don't push so hard! As long as you are putting out quality nails and your clients are happy - whats the problem?

It's more to do with why my timing has increased and my skills have dropped, for example in my old place I saw myself progress and I could see my nails get better and better with hardly any lifting to non at all even after 2-3 weeks but now it takes me longer at my new place, and customers come back with their nails already lifting within 2 weeks or even with breakages (which I know is caused by them pulling off due to lifting).
So from quality nails to this has caused me to question my abilities and as to why it has become like this.
