First ever post so here goes... :o

Basically I'm booked on to start the foundation uv gel course with nsi on the 5th july (I can't wait :D) and I'm just hoping somebody could help answer some questions I have?

Hmm where to start.. Ok first of all has anybody done this course and could tell me what to expect etc? Also will I be able to start work straight after I've passed and got my insurance?

I'm also thinking of taking the mobile nail technician route once I'm sorted, so could anybody give me any advice on where to start with that?

Finally with it being just a gel course I'm taking is that the only technique I can use until I take another course? And will I not be able to offer nail art as one of my services until I take a course in it?

Sorry for all the questions they've kinda been building up  x

I personally would never go mobile, that's one piece of advice I can offer. You never know what conditions are like in sombody's house. When I first started out I did a nail party at a new client's home, NEVER again. Babies and dogs and all sorts of distractions and laughing clients which meant wiggling hands.... oh my it was so stressful. So that was my first and last house call. After that I went the route of flyers and it worked very very well for me. We've thus far distributed over 2 thousand flyers in our area and I have clients 7 days a week.

Thanks for the advice, ye that is one thing I have thought about.. The reason I'm thinking of mobile is to do that until I have built up my clients then look to getting my own salon and expand to other things like waxing, spray tans etc. It's just a case of saving up the money beforehand. Patience is not one of my strong points :D

Where do you work from now Gigit?

I am going mobile in a couple of weeks as I just don't have the client base, or funds to afford to rent a table. So far who I have been to see in their houses have been nice, but I do understand what you mean about the distractions, it's hard time wise with them always chatting away.

Renting a small space in someone else's salon is such a great option and they also supply clients to you from their clientèle; you don't have to open a salon of your own. I would not go mobile for all the tea in China. Donkey work for very little return.

I did that course. It paled in comparison to my recent LCN course.

I don't think this comment is very positive or helpful. Classes and those who teach them vary from country to country and the poster is already booked on the course which has a decent reputation in the UK. It is a shame your experience in Canada was different but it does not tar all with the same brush.
