I have spent the last few weeks gathering information about all of the different types of training and had just decided that CND was the way to go. Then yesterday I came across a thread on another website where someone said that the industry regulations are going to be changed in the near future and Nail Techs will have to hold an NVQ to continue practising. Is this true? Does anyone have any more information regarding this? I have searched the net and can't find anything relevant.

This rumor has been going round for more years than I care to remember .. I can tell you that it is not true and even if it were, you could use all the evidence from your CND or any other course to gain your NVQ at such time (if ever) it becomes compulsory.

Any people already doing nails would not be stopped from working if suddenly new regulations came into effect in any case. You would be given probably 2 years to gain your NVQ which is only a minimum qualification in any case and very easy to obtain through assessment. Your CND course will get you further faster.

Thanks Geeg, you never know whether people are trying to scare monger you or if there is any truth in it!

I don't know where these things get started but is usually by those offering NVQ course (or saying that they do when they don't).

You see, anyone can claim that their course leads to an NVQ qualification and it can do because all learning if you have proof of it can be counted as evidence that can go towards an NVQ but it doesn't mean that the school or company will be able to award you with an NVQ ... most will not be able to.

Yes your definitely right Geeg, there seems to be alot of fraudsters out there, I came across a few myself when I was doing my research! Well I've booked onto a Creative Foundation course + Brisa Gels this afternoon, I think I have made the right decision. I just can't wait to start now, although a little daunting

Good for you Dinky Pinky, i am an educator for CND up in Manchester and also have an NVQ assessor award and Yes when techs come through my academy, and it will be the same with your CND training, the portfolio that you produce as you go through and complete your course will be classed as approved prior learning for if ever you go down the nvq route also. Good luck with your training.

Industry regulations are always changing but never really enforced.

Go for CND - it is the most respected education brand and you won't regret it! x

Thanks guys, you have all set my mind at rest xx
