just about to book a waxing course and the educator said if i book the intimate waxing at the same time (although wont be able to do until have 6 mths experience in waxing) i will get it half price
hadnt planned on doing intimate, dont have it myself and dont really know anyone who does .. although dont suppose they would advertise it, lol
have looked locally and only 2 of the salons offer it (im mobile) not sure if this because it isnt so popular or if just not tapped into it, in which case perhaps i should - but would it work mobile? i was thinking if i was to have it done id rather someone came to me .. what do you think? should i book the initimate course (ladies) and offer this too - just wondering also why its half price, perhaps not a popular course? sorry for all the questions, just dont know a great deal about it and want to find out as much as possible before i decide xx

think it depends very much on area and clientelle, a friend does a lot of male waxing!!!

Im sure you will find a huge demand for intimate waxing.

Most salons in London provide this service and you will benefit from being able to offer a complete service to your clients. Its easier if clients can have one therapist/salon that can provide everything.

Good luck with your training

i'm mobile and i do intimate waxing, its really popular because my clients say they feel alot more comfortable having it done in their own home, being able to go up stairs and have a wash just before, being able to get ready in their bathroom.... also the same as any other treatment they don't need to find a baby sitter or worry about getting up to a salon if they live out in the wild. i live in quite an elderly area so i didn't think it would have much of a demand, but i have clients of all ages having it done :)

Huge demand in my salon.

There are a number of salons that still don't offer this service and its mainly down to the therapists themselves who don't feel comfortable doing it.

If your not shy about doing that sort of wax I would recommend you do it! I have a intimate bikini wax every 4 weeks, I do go to a small one therapist salon, I looked around and prices went up to over £25 and that was a few years back. I picked the cheapest salon at £9.50 (could of been a risk but she's lovely and now a friend) after 3 years she is only charging £10.50.
Although I use a salon I do agree many people would prefer this as a mobile service and if you can afford to undercut the salons it does appear to pay off during this tough financial time.

£10.50????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Train, train, practice & train...be fab and confident at waxing and you'll not need to undercut your competitors... you'll be leading them. Clients are actively seeking experienced therapists for intimate waxing and recognising it's a specialist, soft tissue treatment are happy to pay a premium for it. There are many of us geeks on here with dedicated wax-only business which I think speaks for client demand!!
Go for it & good luck!

There is a huge demand for it where I work so I would say go for it.

wow thank you for the replies, i really appreciate it x
think youve talked me into it, can i ask is it a service clients have done on a regular basis, or are they one off treatments - i guess a mixture of both
just bit worried about finding models to practice on once trained, how did you manage it ?
loving the name btw velvet patch .. brilliant! x

Regular.

Its very rare a client has this treatment as a one-off regardless of how low their pain threshold may be lol.

Yes £10.50!!!!! I think it's crazy, but she's amazing!

what is the average price for a brazilian then ?
the 2 salons i mentioned earlier charge similar prices
can i ask how you got your models, as much as im wanting to do it .. really wouldnt feel comfortable practising on friends, and dont think theyd feel comfortable either, its not like practising nails lol

I charge £35.00 for a brazilian wax (although I call this a California).

I actually taught myself years ago when one of my first ever clients begged me to do it for her after her lovely husband had attempted to do it for her over a period of three days. Yes three days. YES THREE DAYS lol!!!!!!!! I thought she was going to say three minutes.

At this time I had not found anything anywhere offering training in intimate waxing so had no certification but she didn't care. She trusted me. And therein started my love affair with the brazilian/californian/hollywood wax.

So I didn't have any models, I taught myself using the basic waxing knowledge and logic.

As soon as I came across a hot wax brazilian training course I went on it to get the certificate. The course was not good at all and I didn't learn one single thing that I didn't already know.

If she's good, and you say she is, you should tell her to put her prices up tomorrow (but keep yours at £10.50 lol).

£10.50 is for every single hair to be removed from front sides and round the backside except the little strip at the front???

I'm in the thirties for female intimate-fifties for male...flexible tariff I can tailor to clients. I actually find I get more clients coming to me for a premium priced wax... many having had the cheaper horror experience down the road! Pricing speaks volumes for the value you place on your skill/experience...don't cheapen what is a specialist service, research Market rates and invest in great training....and if the training turns out to be rubbish (I have a graveyard of worthless certificates!) research seek recommendations and find more!

what is the habia suggested age limits for intimate waxing? Velvet see you state 18 yrs on your site - is this personal or the recommended?

can you recommend any courses, prepared to travel .. hard heard good things about kim lawless course - might do bit more research instead of rushing into this particular course
also are start up ciosts for waxing fairly reasonable x

"velvet patch" love it, such a classic, LOL:lol: going to make me smile all day, Thanks !!

From memory Habia don't state min age for intimate waxing in their "code of practice in waxing" - perhaps someone will step in and advise?
HOWEVER regardless of Habia (voluntary) guidelines it's your insurance that must guide you and yes, as I am with The Guild 18 years is the min age for intimate waxing (I was told BABTAC is the same). So I guess message is: know your insurance and what you're covered for.

**Glad VP name making you smile -was born from several bottles of Merlot no less! My Clients love it. (..and I like to think velvet is the result regardless of the patch being waxed!!) **
