Honesty is the the best policy so please put me straight if you think i'm being catty but i'm concerned.:irked:

So here is the issue.........I have started an adult nail art course and it's ok but i'm having a few problems. The tutor is not professional, she is constantly endorsing cheap nasty nail polishes for us to use and to be honest her designes look cheap and i'm not learning. When we were shown her portfolio I was so dissapointed, none of the other ladies in the class are nail techs and do not have a clue about any polishes etc, so they were all gob smacked when she got them out but I was not....at all.

They were on really cheap tips, not neat, creative, fancy, blah blah blah..... ok so what i was getting at is they are not of the quality that i would expect from someone who was teaching!!

But that is not it peeps......... there are a few in the class that really worry me in terms or cleanliness. 2 of the students in particular have long filthy nails and i mean filthy, they are a hazard, but we are expected to share equipment and I just can't handle it.

Why would you go into the health and beauty industry if you didn't give a jot about the presentation of your own nails?

Help, am I being a cow?

It is very disappointing when a course doesn´t meet our expectations isn´t it? i would probably feel the same way as you to be honest. but I guess now you have to decide what you want to do for the future.

Do you complain? After all others may inwardly be feeling the same as you, and if no one complains then the powers that be will think all is well.

Do you put up and shut up? well only if you think that you could

Do you quit? well i think that we can all learn something on a course no matter how basic it is .. and if you do stunning work then it will highlight the inadequacies of the course as a whole

The decision has to be yours. And if you have to work on the dirty nail brigade you could just ask them to clean under them so that the deisgns will look a lot better.

good luck

you said it was an adult education class.....well that isnt set up for professionals to go in, its for fun!
I teach ad ed and its geared towards people who want to learn a little and be able to recreate what they have learn't at home.

if you want a professional nail art course taught to professional standards, then don't sign up for an amateur-led course.

if I got qualified therapists coming on my courses, I would make it clear to them that what they learn on the course is for FAMILY ONLY NOT for paying clients.

I agree in part but the tutor is a college tutor from the beauty therapy dept and there is no excuse for filthy hands, well i don't think there is.

I know it's an adult class but i just presumed that when she was intoduced as a full time professional teacher it would be more pro if you get me?

I just wish you could see nthe colour of these finger nails though...ewww like cashew nuts with nicotene stains and god only knows what underneath ha ha ha!! x
