Hi everyone,

I've been interested in training with Kim for intimate waxing for a while now, I'd just like to know if it's worth going for if you are already fairly confident with waxing? I'm qualified in intimate waxing from my Level 3 Beauty course, and I'm now working in a salon that specialises in it. I was in-house trained to use Lycon, and have been doing probably about 15-20ish Brazilians & Hollywoods per week for about 8 weeks. I'm completely comfortable with doing them and have had great feedback, but I'm also always keen to do even better and improve myself.

Do you think I would gain anything from training with Kim or is it better for people who need a bit of help with being able to wax? I currently take around 30-40 minutes for them depending on how much hair/thickness a client has. I also take a bit longer if it's a bigger lady. There's another salon I know of around here that allocates 20 minutes for a Hollywood wax, I'd love to comfortably be able to do it in that time without rushing but I don't know if a new technique would make me faster or if I'm just slow because I'm just starting out and have to keep practising?

Thank you for any help xx

I think its absolutely worth doing. You will learn the simplest quickest way to do a Hollywood/Brazillian, Kim Lawless style! I trained with Kim a couple of years ago despite learning how to do Hollywoods when I was at college. In my mind Kims way is so much better and I have clients seek me out because I am trained with KIm. Depending on the client I can easily complete a Hollywood/Brazillian wax in 15 - 30 minutes.

There are many ways to teach a Brazilian but I only know kims way. If you're totally confident and happy doing them I don't know if it's for you, but the fact that you're asking on here would indicate you still have room for improvement which is what you say about timings. I don't think you'd ever regret doing kims training.
I book out 45 minutes for a Brazilian but usually have the client in and out in 30 minutes and time for a quick cuppa but regulars now only take about 20 mins tops x

I trained first with Lycon here in Ireland, I went on a 6 hour round trip journey to Dublin to a well know Brazillian Waxing Specialist salon and had private one to one training. It was mediocre at best, I never felt fully confident with waxing, It used to take me an hour and half to do my first few Brazilians and then i got it down to about an hour (god only knows what i was doing for an hour haha)

I wanted to be the best I could be at brazilian waxing so I traveled over to england to Kim and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made :) Coming out of the training I was already far more confident at waxing and within a few months nothing scared me and I am able to do a brazilian in 20 mins for regulars and 30 for new clients (this includes welcoming them, right up to taking payment). I have clients who come from as far away as longford (3.5 hours away from me) and arrange their visits to family around their waxing appointment just so they can come to me :)

The only downside I could see is that i did not find Lycon wax compatible with kims method of waxing, I found it too brittle. It was an easy decision for me to switch brands because the technique was amazing , that may not be an option for you when your employed but I would still highly recommend the training :) Can't go wrong with good training , it will last you a lifetime :)

Thank you all for your replies ladies! I think I will go for it, as I've only ever heard great things about her training. There is always more to learn! And I want to be the best I can be :)

Like Noreen I travelled over from Ireland a few weeks ago to do Kim's training. I thought I was a competent Hollywood waxer until I saw Kim's way of doing it. I realized I was using far too much wax for a start but that's how I was thought originally. I'd now get a Hollywood done in a less than a half an hr easily.
Definitely go for it it's well worth it & kims an excellent trainer without a doubt.

You're already convinced, so good.

Just wanted to add that I sought out a Kim-trained waxer locally solely due to Kim's reputation - googled "Kim Lawless MyTown".

If I did that, so will others; so you get a marketing advantage too with your investment.

I only trained with Kim so don't know any other way to wax. I book 20 mins for Brazilian or Hollywood now after 2 years and I use PR Intimate 4. My whole business is waxing now. Best thing I ever did.

I also recommend Kim's training. You will not be sorry if you book it. I traveled from South Wales and the cost was totally & utterly worth it.

I felt confident leaving the course and actually excited to get home and start practicing and was even dreaming about the technique the first few days, and I love doing intimate waxing (I know that sounds weird but when you have done her training you will totally understand what I mean). Kim is a fantastic trainer with a wonderful technique, I would go to her training again in a heartbeat even if it cost twice as much as it does.

Noreen next time im in cork im coming to u really wish there was a kim trained person in cavan!! [emoji106][emoji106]

I would love to be able to do a course with kim. Unfortunately im in Australia. Salon timing for a hollywood wax is 10-15mins here. Doubt ill ever be that quick :(

YES... I have done both Kim's female & male intimate waxing and the training received was fantastic and has bought not only new clients but they return time & time again. X

10-15 minutes to do a Hollywood??? That is insane!

I thought I was quick!! Not sure how u could do a thorough job in 10 minutes, wax would have to set instantly!

I cant do it in that time. The girls do larger strips. The do around 6 applications of wax per treatment. Ouch!!!

It takes me between 20-30 minutes to do a Kim Lawless wax... I don't rush and I make sure all the hair is removed!
I could probably do it quicker but I'm a perfectionist and Kim wouldn't stand for her name to go against shoddy work!

I've been waxing females for about 20 years. But I trained in male waxing with Axiom who is awesome!
A female Brazilian/Hollywood takes me between 7-10 minutes tops. I don't know why it takes any longer? It really baffles me. Clients want to be in and out with this kind of wax. Who wouldn't right? They're shocked at how quick and relatively pain free it is....but I honestly don't know why other salons are taking so long. I average between 4-6 new wax clients per week as clients love how quick they can get waxed. I have repeat clients each month and don't miss any stray hairs.

Well lucky you I'm in Fermanagh lol not to far away.

My story similar to Noreen's, always enjoyed waxing, did all the courses I could find over here but just knew they weren't perfect and not 100%.

Flew over to Kim's did the course loved it felt inspired by her next day started to offer Brazilians.... best decision ever... now chopped lots of treatments of the menu focusing on being a Brazilian waxing salon and have customers travelling from hours away... love what I do and know that the quality of the work is amazing due to the quality of the training.

Takes me 20-30 minutes maximum and I have a lot of customers who have had a Brazilian elsewhere and say it doesn't compare in terms of speed, results and comfort

One of my customers left it last minute couldn't get an appointment with me went elsewhere.. had to get the girl to stop was in agony for days afterwards... now books appointments 6 months in advance haha

Kim's course is just fabulous it made me feel skilled, confident and taken the business to a level beyond my expectations
