hi geeks.
just wondered if anyone could help.
my legs, (mainly knees to feet and including) are mega itchy!!
i exfoliate regularly, apply moisturiser everyday (usually dermalogica ultrarich body cream) ive also used oilatum bath stuff and oilatum cream - which is suitable for eczema sufferers but nothing is working!!
i know skin can be drier in winter, but this has been going on since july and they are so bad, i scratch until the skins breaks! i know this is very naughty of me, but just can help scratching now and then! they look so bad
my next move is to go see my gp, but thought id ask u guys beforehand.
any help/advice much appriciated.

ps, hair removal done by waxing and occasionally epilator, dont know if that makes a difference.
Thank you :)

I would give up using any usual body creams for a while and just use a cold pressed vegetable oilyou will be able to pick up something in the supermarket or health shop, almond, grapeseed and sunflower will all be fine.Try it for a week or so and see if it helps.
You also could add a drop of lavender, peppermint or chamomile essential oil.

Firstly I would stop using anything on your legs. Your legs can become itchy after hair removal due to the hairs growing back through so you may just have to leave your hairs until you see your G.P.
Wear loose trousers pref cotton ones. When you say you are exfoliating, how often are you doing this and how? xxx

i exfoliate approx once a week, ususally with exfolating gloves or dermalogica body scrub.

It doesn't sound like you are over exfoliating then.
Book in with your G.P hun. Hopefully he can give you something to clear it up.
Hope its feeling better soon xxx

Do you use bilogical washing powder?
You could well be allergic to this i was when i was little and it only made my arms and legs itchy nowhere else

Could be an allergy to something but I would definitely see your GP as itching like this can be a symptom of something else going on. :)

I had the same problem on my legs (always from the knee down) and also on my upper arms, like you i would scratch untill i had hives, sking rash or bleeding. Slowly i built up a diary of when it started and what i had done prior to the itching starting and it all boiled down to me using one of those scrunchies everyday in the shower. Once i stoped using it and started using a soft baby sponge it went and ive never had that itching again.

Dont know what means of exfoliator you use but i would do as i have and write down when it starts and what you was doing or used prior to it starting, hth

thanks so much for all your replies, some helpful stuff here.
ive booked in to see my gp altho i couldnt get in 'til 22nd! so il try your suggestions at least til then.
Thanks :green:

could be eczema or an allergy as both can itch, is the area inflamed, patchy or dry? they say (doctors) the best thing to use is aqueous cream as it isnt ment to irritate the skin but this is only a barrier so wont penetrate but may soothe, if it is eczema then i wouldnt use any oil as this can irritate it you can buy hydrocortazone 1% over the counter which will prob help but if i would show the pharmacist beforehand, s/he will prob help. hth
