Hi all.

I have been reading with some interest about your use of Jasmine oil (you're all at it!)

I qualified 5/6 years ago and we were taught to use a pre wax cleanser and ensure there was no residue left on the skin, making sure there was no natural oils left on the skin. Then you lot go and put oil back on? :D

Why doesnt the oil stop the hairs sticking? how come it works as a barrier to the skin and not the hairs?

When you say you use a 'very small amount of oil' in waxing, how much actually is that? whats your application process? I mean, a fingers tip amount would not cover a whole leg? would you rub a couple drops into your palms then give the legs a good rub with it?

Would you use it for facial waxing? I imagine it would be difficult to get a small enough amount for tiny eyebrows?

I ordered some from Berins to use with my cream wax in salon and Im doing a Braz course in Aug so Ill get a hot wax pot an use it then as well.

Any feedback would be mucho appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, that's it! And for facial waxing (or anywhere for that matter) if you think you've used to much, or the wax starts slipping about, blot it with a tissue!

Oil is an absolute must under hard wax. Under soft wax I use my discretion.

When you start using hard wax, then you may well opt for using it on the face as well as the bikini. Esp the upper lip, it's so much better.

Thank you for your reply.

I hope you got my order:o

So by using your discretion, are you saying you would use it under warm wax sometimes and not others? in what instance would you/wouldnt you?

Thanks again.

When I learnt with hard/hot wax it was tough and you had to apply it so thick and it went brittle very easily. There seem to be no give in it and it set very quickly like amber!
We only really used it for underarm in a figure of 8 and bikini line when it was just waxing the knicker line (how 1% of my clients like their bikini wax)

The new generation hot wax is said to be SOOoooo much better. I have only used and trained with Berins, and i love the hot wax. I'm sure Zoe can advise you on it. As for the use of jasmine oil, i use it for both hot and strip wax as that was how i was trained to do it. You could probably do with seeing a demo by someone as it is difficult to say how much is used, it is just a small amount. However saying that, I saw a demo at the beauty uk birmingham in april by Lycon and the lady used alot of oil.
Sorry to go on, HTH.
;)

I tend to use oil under Ease if the skin is at all dry but if it's nice young skin with a sheen I don't always bother. Just being honest! But I would NEVER use the Blue without oil, it is designed not only to protect the skin, by way of creating a lipid barrier, but also to release the wax nicely. Anyone that has ever applied hard wax without oil will know how much more difficult it is to get off without oil and how dry the skin will look!

You don't need to do the figure 8 thing with modern hard waxes, or layer them. And they shouldn't go brittle either as they contain plasticisers these days.

Thanks for your replies.

I've recieved my oil (v.quick, thanks!)

I used it today on eyebrows and bikini. My bikini clients said she had never had such a comfortable wax and my eyebrrow clients didnt go red at all (I was embarressed i hadnt done it before)

Im converted.

Thanks Geeks!

Fabulous!

A little tip: when you have put the oil in the palms of your hands and rubbed together before applying to the body part ... if you feel you have been over zealous with the oil... just dab your palms down onto the couch roll and it will take off the excess, then continue to apply the oil that remains on your hands.

You'll soon get the hang of it :)

Wax on!

:D
