Hi

5 years ago i had an awful pain in my left side and it was a cyst in my left ovary. the hospital sent me home and said if it hurt again to take tablets and said it was too small to remove,

5 years later i am still having the pain and now the right side hurts and my lower back hurts, it seems to have got worse over the last month. the pain in the lower back is sometimes a pulsing pain, goes numb or is aching. it will hurt when i do certain things eg, stretching, period coming, when im cold, having s*x

i have been to the doctors twice about this and both doctors said it was a sore back, i no it isnt a sore back, theres something wrong.

i cant get an appointment with the doctors until next monday and i feel as if i need to find out what this is, has anyone else experienced this or no what it would be?

'Push' for an appointment with your doctor sweetheart, I think we 'know' when there's something not 'usual' going on (ie not backache)!
Symptoms and pain differ for everyone with different things, you won't know until you've had it checked out.
Good luck and do a blog to let us know how you get on  xxx

Definitely push for an apppointment. If your asked by the receptionist "Is it an emergency for today?" Say yes, if your in pain you need to be seen. An alternative is to go to a local Walk In Centre if you have one. Don`t go after school time tho cos you may have a long wait.

Hi Beautyw

We know our own bodies better than anything - you know that something doesn't feel 'right' and you are right to want to push for help. It could be the simplest thing but you certainly need to have the peace of mind.

I have had what sounds like the same type of pain for a long time and was dismissed each time I went to my Doctor. Due to a catalogue of errors there (including mixing my records with somebody with the same name!!) nothing was ever done.

I have moved areas now and visited my new recently Doctor for my first routine appointment. Within weeks of that I have had swabs taken, a full internal, blood samples taken and am booked in for 2 scans at the end of this month. The difference in Doctors has been amazing.

Keep pushing and let us know how you get on

Ovarian cysts can sit there quietly for years. Mine had a 6" diameter before it was found and removed along with the ovary. However, if they twist the pain is excrutiating.

In your place, if my doctor won't see me as an emergency, I would go to casualty. At least you would get another opinion. No way should you be left in pain.

Try not to worry too much, if you have been examined before and the doctor said it is backache then it COULD just be muscular pain at best. There are many things that can contribute to all of the symptoms you are experiencing, but without you being in front of a doctor or nurse practitioner to examine you it is impossible to say what it could be. If you don't want to wait for the GP, go to the walk in centre, the nurses there are all highly experienced clinically, if you need to see a doctor they can tell you where to attend whether it is straight to hospital or routine GP.
