HI,

I know I am new to this, but I am getting really disheartened about clients not rebooking. I have been pleased with the nails I have done, and the client seems pleased too, but not all come back. Do most people find this or is it me that they are not happy with.

Question for you? Are your prices comparable to other salons in the area? Sometimes your work is great but people might not feel they are comparable to others.

I totally agree with leading them to rebook, even though sometimes that can be hard. But especially now with the holidays, you can say its a very busy time of year for you and you wouldn't want them to miss out on a certain time that works for them. Or miss out totally on getting in with you. That seems to help me with the fly by nighters who hate to commit to a schedule.

Good Luck:)

Although I always led the client to rebook, sometimes they can't because they haven't got their diary or something is pending etc .... that is when the Client Record Card is so valuable (in fact indispensable) to your business. I diarize any who don't rebook and give them a courtesy call at the 2 week period to remind them ... then they either rebook or you get the chance to get some feed back that you so desperately want.

There is allot more to running a successful business than sitting behind a table doing nails and then getting up and going home . You have to work at it and be meticulous with your client follow up too. End of each day, check the books .. do any followup needed ... cleaning ... checking stock levels ... checking the next days schedule and pulling the CRC's for the next day ... making any other needed calls etc ... filling the coffee machine ready for the morning :green: ......... I used to get it all ready the night before because there was always plenty to do as soon as I opened the salon door!

Thanks everyone, that is a great help. I am certainly not pushy, and I know I need to toughen up. I wasn't sure whether I should ring if I have not heard from them or not. I will brace myself and give it a go.

It's not being pushy and you don't have to be tough .... it is being thorough and mindful of your obligation as a professional nail technician, to look after the health of your clients' nails. If they decide not to come back then you can at least offer a safe removal for them.

Would you think it pushy if your dentist's office rang you to remind you that you were due for a hygienist's appointment to keep you teeth healthy and free of disease? What is difference with nails? The nails you put on have to be maintained or removed safely ... you are offering to do either in order to maintain the health of the client's nails.

As ever Gigi, thanks for the good advice!
