I decided to completely strip out my twins bedroom while they are away, carpet beds the lot !

I had 2 big boxes of c**p to get rid of and guess what I HAVE THROWN OUT THEIR PS2 !!!

My queston is, do I replace with a PS3 or an XBox 360 ? I have no idea about these game things !

i have both personally me and mine prefer the ps3 its brill!!

either - PS3 is more expensive and potentially more powerful, but the Xbox has a far better game release schedule and is a lot cheaper. I prefer Xbox personally

can they play their ps2 games on the x box ?

My sons Xbox has been a right pain.If you look on all the gaming sites you will find they have a lot of problems with overheating and my sons keeps shutting itself off .He is on his 3rd but it does get some major play and he does play the really intense high graphic games.Which there are more of on xbox
If they are quite young i would go with a ps3 they seem to be much more reliable.Microsoft do not seem to want to take any responsibility at the mo for the overheating issues.
If you go for xbox the best place we know is Gamestation and pay for the extra 2 year guarantee.Certainly our gamestation is extremely helpful and will change things no problem.

ps 3 it is then ! mind you their fav game was in it !!!:lol:

Oh dear.well when you go and buy a new ps3 if you get it from gamestation and they have the game in the second hand section get them to throw it in as well they almost certainly will.

That'll be the old stock, the new ones are far more reliable, so that doesn't happen too much anymore. ps3 is quite limited software-wise - not nearly as much choice as Xbox

We have a new stock one now and yes they have put a heat sink in it or improved the heat sink whatever that is but evidently still not quite enough. The red light thing isnt happening so much but they are still having trouble with them just switching off.
If the children are young the ps3 would probably be fine for a few years until the next best thing and also when they may want to move on to more complicated games and at least they can play their old games.

If you do want an xbox this may help to make sure you get an improved one.

MAXCONSOLE - XBOX 360 - How to easily spot a Falcon Xbox 360, just look at the UPC

Also note - you will not necessarily be able to play PS2 games, only some of them will work!

this is correct you may not be-able to play your ps2 games on the new playstation but it is a blu-ray player like dvd's but better (can still play normal dvd's) you can transfer movies and music and stuff from your computer on a memory stick and stuff (i use that alot)
the graphics and sound on the games etc when paired up with a hd tv and hdmi cable are amazing
you can play online for free where as xbox you have to subscribe (rip off)
has its own internet browser which is nothing special however im pretty sure you can install your own os such as windows but we havent done this yet
just overall a nicer system i think and i couldnt really give two hoots about games consoles and have them both so iv tried to give you an un-biased opinion lol
but in my eyes ps3 ftw!!

Personal choice I guess, I have owned both and think the Xbox is far superior. The PS3's biggest obstacle is that the unit, the games and everything to do with it are vastly overpriced. The Xbox live, although a subscription service (and hey - we are only talking 30 quid a year!), is far more comprehensive than the service that Sony offer.

In the end I couldn't care less - I have owned both, but far prefer the Xbox

my son had ps3 last year but found most of his mates got x boxes as they were cheaper. I didn't really think this mattered but apparently when playing online games the two use different servers so he ended up saving for an x-box just so he could play with his mates!

Oh dear ! now I have no idea !:lol:

You probably won't want them going online yet anyway at their ages, they will be coming into contact with all sorts, adults often play the games and bring with it adult language etc.
They have a headset and talk to eachother and the other people entering the game.
Its quite addictive i have trouble getting my son off and rather than being outside mixing with eachother in the real world they are all chatting away via headsets .
The games are made in such a way to make them addictive. In hindsite i would not have let him go online but he's nearly 15 now he wasn't on it till 14.I definately wouldn't have let him at 10.
I doubt whether there are many online games for your childrens age group anyway. So i wouldn't worry about that aspect and by the time they are old enough they will probably want or need a new one.
Hope that helps.

I TOTALLY agree with that - I tried the Xbox LIVE Gold membership, and it is extremely addictive - playing folk from around the world is far more alluring than playing against the computer. . .and that applys to Xbox and ps3
