Evidently kissing your friends european style is less likely to spread germs than shaking hands.
Ive noticed young people are very tactile and hug and kiss when they meet.
I kiss and hug my friends, my very best friends get a big hug,a rock back and forth and two kisses ,one each cheek. How tactile are you how do you greet your friends and family.
Do you think because of what you do you are more touchy/feely do you think nothing of feeling peoples skin to see if they are a bit dry or get their hands to have a look at their nails.

It never really worried me before, but since all this Swine flu epidemic I'm thinking more about where people's hands have been.

I really wish clients wouldn't cough into their hands when I'm doing their nails though. I know they don't think before they do it, but each time they cough I cringe when they give me back their hand full of lovely germs all for little old me ... :irked:

Nice

I'm a very tactile person, love to get and give a good hug.

Though saying that, I really do like the Japanese tradition of bowing. It is a very nice way of showing respect that is very simple and unthreatening.

Hi Gill, you might want to edit 'French Style' for 'European Style', lol. I initially thought you were referring to a 'Frenchie' (tongue snog with your best mates  ).

I hail from Southern Africa.... as if you haven't already guessed.... and there we kiss friends with a big hug and one kiss on a cheek, so the European way of doing it was very new to me. I also come from a background where you kissed close friends and relatives on the lips briefly! A peck only!

Now I know this is a 'no no' nowadays, but it was perfectly acceptable way back when!

I am a very tactile person and love a hug and kiss with a mate. I don't comment on their 'dry flakey cheeks' (although I may think it) but I really do notice if peeps hands are dry and scaly.

Personally I do think more germs are spread via hand contact, because hands go in places mouths and lips don't on a day to day basis.... iykwim :green:.

Hey as a fellow Southern African...yes we do hug and kiss a lot LOL.

I would imagine there's a lot less to be caught from kissing someone rather than shaking someones hand .....that's not accounting for anyone slipping in a tongue when kissing of course :lol::hug:

You naughty boy Collin :wink2:! I always suspected that swishing tale would get you into trouble :green:.

I'm not at all tactile, never hug friends and the only people that I do hug and a peck on cheek are very close family when we are saying good bye, but there are some close family that I don't hug, guess we are not that huggy feely. That said the one person I did hug all the time was my lovely mum, quite often for the most random reason and without thinking.

I don't like being hugged or touched by other people. Guess that just the Britishness in me.

As a society we are very touch-phobic, which I think is quite sad. Touch is one of the most powerful forms of communication and connection.

I just keep a big old pump bottle of Coolblue on the desk nowadays and no matter who coughs or sneezes (me or them)....they get a shot of it in the hand with a sweet smile, and me saying " Hey...can't be too careful, can we nowadays! Health and Safety....you know" *shrug*

No one has ever objected.....I think they are pleased to see you paying good attention to sanitary practise!

I do the same as Lyndsay.....I replace whatever is in their hands with CoolBlue..

I am a very hug and kisses kind of person but think you can tell when others arnt...they kinda go stiff as a board and don't quite know how to respond....:)

I'm not sure if this is a daft question, but if you use Cool Blue during a enhancement treatment say whilst inhibition layer is still on the nails or during L+P application as inbetween applying different zones or prior to buffing etc, can this not effect the chemical process and possibly lead to service breakdown? I'm just wondering because obviously I am extreemly conscious about hygiene but then I wouldn't want to cause possible service breakdown.

I can't answer for L&P, but for gel, in this instance, I do then wipe the nail and gently take the shine of the surface again with a soft file. Adds just a couple of minutes to the service time, but I'd lose a heck of a site more time if I had to take days of ill, is my reasoning!

Well, something which I find really icky is that in general, I don't think the majority of males wash their hands after going to the loo. Whether it is a number one or number two, their hands venture into the nether regions and then don't get washed.

Apparently analysis of bar counter peanuts have revealed numerous different types of urine specimens.... mmmm! That's just peanuts, let alone shaking hands .

I basically avoid the nails...I tend to take a pump of cool blue in my hands to remove any nasties and then take another pump and wipe it over the clients palms.

Doh, its so obvious really :smack:

Do you put as much thought into placing your hands on the escalator handrail? Or pressing an elevator button?

I just get over it and shake everyone's penis.

Do you put as much thought into placing your hands on the escalator handrail? Or pressing an elevator button? actually i do....i never hold hand rails in public places...(mainly cos they just look so grubby) but i wouldn't say i was OCD about it all....

I just get over it and shake everyone's penis.
