What's the best machine to do home laser hair removal? There's lots online with great reviews. No idea where to start.

I understand it won't give the same results as a pro one, like anything! But there's nowhere near me that offers it :( I'm desperate

My daughter uses one but she's away at the moment. I'll ask when she gets back.

As far as I know You have to shave before any laser hair removal! The hair has to be removed from the surface of the skin, I wonder if you could wax it a few days before instead? Although maybe you cant

I think that this falls under the rules of not recommending OTC products. There are many geeks on here who offer laser hair removal as part of their business and so I don't see this as any different.

For professional, safe, laser hair removal we have to advise that you seek a trained professional in this area.

So with regards to professional laser hair removal, do you have to shave prior to treatment too? Xxx

:( I wish there was another option! I REALLY don't want to shave my face! What if the laser doesn't work!!!?? I'll be in a worse position than before! I currently wax! Xxx

Why would you have to shave before using laser?

My tutor at college bought one from QVC for about £500. She had only been using it for a couple of months when she showed us but was pleased with the results. Have you considered electrolysis?

I have no idea. I'd never heard of shaving before until I read up on this machine! :(

I had considered electrolysis but would take for ever as I have various areas I'd like treating. So I was thinking of electrolysis after laser xxx

You need to shave before IPL or Laser, or your technician can do it for you just before the treatment. If hair is left above the surface, the hair pigment will attract the machine's light above the surface rather than near the root where it needs to be. The light creates the heat and can cause a burn.

I'm not aware of any machine where you don't need to shave beforehand but would welcome another technician's opinion on this.

I trained with Lynton Lasers on their Luminette Advance IPL machine.

Thanks for that info Nikki. My tutor didn't say anything about shaving when she demonstrated her laser, but that may be because it's an " at home" one rather than professional, or she just forgot to mention it.

I am trained with Candela GentalLase Alexandrite 755nm medical grade laser and I am also trained in Ellipse IPL and we also shave or cut hairs before treatment for the same reason as beautybynikki stated above as its mandatory protocol.

I would always recommend going to see a laser specialist if considering laser, personally I wouldn't waste money on "home laser machines" as you will get nowhere near the results achieved professionally, most clinics offer free of charge consultations were you and your laser specialist can discuss all aspects of the treatment.
