Hi, I'm looking at doing a lash extension course so I decided to have them done myself this afternoon at my local salon to see what they look like. They were offering the set at £45 and it takes 45 minutes. I thought that was cheap and quick compared to the courses I'd been looking at. I attended my appointment and was asked to lay down on the bed, my eyes weren't wiped or anything, I said I may have some eyeliner under my eyes but she said that it was ok. She put some kind of pad under my eyes and over my lower lashes. Then the lashes were applied straight from the packet on to my closed eye lids. The glue seemed to iritate my eyes a couple of times and I had to open my eyes and sit up, this seemed to calm them down and then she carried on. It did take only 45 mins and she said she's applied 25 to each eye. She also said that she couldnt understand why some therapists take 2 hours. Please can I have some feedback from therapists to see what you think as I'm not sure!! Also is a skin test usually carried out?

Thanks for you time!

I bought the Nouveau Lash kit, but to be honest, I can't stand doing them. I'm driven to distraction and am bored rigid by the end of a set. It takes me about 90 mins, but I've not done many. I like the end result, but find the process mind-numbing. However, if the therapist is doing them day-in and day-out, she will obviously cut down her time.
The vapour from the glue is the irritant, but it's normally OK if the therapist fans the air in front of your eye every few minutes.
As with all chemicals, a patch test should be done beforehand.

Were they individual or cluster lashes hun?
And HELL YES she should have carried out a patch test! I know some geeks on here say it doesn't matter because it's not touching skin but that's crazy. If glue gets into the eye and your client has a reaction then your in trouble! x

Hi, they are individual lashes, I told her my eyes were stinging but she said the glue would do me no harm. it's really give me an insight on how some people practice. I'm studying beauty therapy and hairdressing and have to patch test for certain things. I should of asked them this before I went, but to be honest I didn't think of it until I was lay there with stinging eyes. I'm ok now though, just hope my eyes aren't stuck in the morn!!

I bet it was the patches underneath that were causing your eyes to be irritated. I am ouveau trained and almost every client i had at the start were irritated by them. I dont use them now.

I always patch test. and a full set takes me about 1 hour to 90 mins.

Are you supposed to clean the eyes first? And can I just ask why do you think it only took her 45 minutes, do you think she didn't use enough lashes. They do look nice x

Thankyou all for your advice. I definately want to do the course, I think having the treatment today has taught me not what to do!x
