Hi ladies :) I've just had a phone call from a new client that I lashed 2 weeks ago sayin that earlier she was in the bath and that when she washed her face with water all her lashes came out!! She left me a message askin me to replace them free of charge!! To be honest i'm suspicious as I think she's after a freebie as she would have been due for an infill this week anyway. After I applied the extensions we went through the aftercare advice and she said that she was happy etc and I said to her at the time to give me a call if she had any problems. I've called her back and said that i will pop round later to have a look but won't be able to fix them today... I'm just wondering if anybody has any advice as by the sounds of it she will need to have a whole new set applied. I am thinking possibly that as a goodwill gesture of doing a new set for £30 (usual price £50), but I'm def not doin them for free!! Thanks in advance xx

chancer.

of course she is after a freebie........she asked for them for free!!!!

im not a lasher, but surely you'll be able to know if she has picked them????

also are you not supposed to keep them away from hot water? the bath?

i get lashes done so i know a bit about the aftercare. tell her to beat it. imo.

ok maybe just charge her for the fill...buti just think its cheek asking for free of charge!!!

I think you usually get a feeling about these things. You will know better when she pops round and you can take a look and ask her about how she has looked after them. Good luck. x

Perhaps her bubble bath oily, this could have loosened the bond. Just an idea as it seems a bit strange that they had been fine for a couple of weeks and then fell out after washing her face in the bath xxx

Thanks for the quick reply Kim:) Well, when she mentioned washing her face I asked her whether the lashes got wet and she said no!! This totally contradicts what she told me in the first place which makes me think she's just trying her luck... I've only been doing lashes for about a year but have never had this happen to a client before-in fact most of my clients are on 3 week infills because the lashes last so long!! To be honest with you I don't think i'm going to go out of my way to keep her happy as I don't see her being a regular client anyway (her boyfriend, who was in the back garden smoking weed while i was doing the lashes paid for them out of his jobseekers allowance!!) and she doesn't work because she can't be bothered:O so I can't see her keeping up the maintanance anyway. I hope that doesn't sound judgemental!!x

Thanks for your replies ladies, i'm determined to get to the bottom of this!! I've got the feeling that she has either picked them off or has been using an oil based mascara. After I applied the lashes she asked whether she could wear mascara, and I advised to use a water based one which I could order in for her as they are hard to find on the high street. She said 'oh no, don't worry I'll be able to find one myself', i'm thinking that she didn't and has prob been using a normal one. I guess all will become clear when i see her tonight!!xx

Surely after them staying on for 2 weeks they wouldn't all fall out at once. Maybe a few or even quite a few but all of them? I wouldn't entertain her, I would be more inclined to tell her that she obviously isn't suited to having eyelash extensions and not do anything with her at all! ;)

hey
at the end of the day nothing in beauty is guaranteed an especially comming up to 2weeks, for them ALL to fall out is very weird. I wouldn't do a freebie anyway, as you said she was due for an infill.

i had the same thing last week
i did a full set on 3 people in one house on monday and on friday one of the ladies rang saying they were not attatched properly, so i offered to come and see them then and there she said no she was at work,
so i offered her saturday at 2, she said ok but its not really a good time as she is having friends round, i explained that it would then be 17th may i can see her as i am going on hol, but i really needed to see the lashes to assess the problem,
anyway i went on tuesday at 5 and i wanted to scream when she opened the door,
she had like 3 lashes on each eye... and said she had kept them to show me, the ones she had lost had hairs attatched to them (she had friggin picked them)
i told her she now has bald patches and that i had nothing to stick new ones to and she was horrified! i then went on to explain that as the lash cycle is up to 90 days she is in for a long wait for them to grow back..
she was gutted (serves her right)
what possessed her i do not know?
maybe a few were lost and she wanted more done for free???
anyway i did the set again best i could FOR FREE!!

anyway moral of teh story
don't take s**t off clients, you can tell if it something they have done or not,
worse mistake she could make was showing me the evidence,

hopefully i've got through to her that you must not pick them off!!
i mean why would you ?? you wouldn't sit picking your eye brows out or nails off
madness xxxxxxxxxxxx

rant over lol

I agree, obviously after 2 weeks I would expect there to be some lashes missing but for them all to come out in one go is just weird!!! I was meant to pop round tonight at 7pm to check them out, but she text me earlier saying that has to go out and could I come another time??? I politely explained that I'm fully booked for the next few days and that I won't be able to see her until next week now, but to keep the one lash that she apparantly has on so that I can what the damage is!!!

Honestly, it baffles me the lengths that people will go to for a freebie:rolleyes: She's not getting one from me, that's for sure!!

Glad it's not just me that has experienced this then:D I don't get it, surely if you think you've apparantly received a 'bad service' you would make time to get it fixed??!!! I know if it was me, I'd want to get it fixed asap rather than making excuses about not having the time etc......

Seems to be a lot of people out there who out for freebies, have read a couple of threads recently on The Nail Geek where people have tried the same thing with nails-soooooo wrong!!! xxxx

Errr, yes clients do pick their nails off - especially when they are due to come & see you (me) - well one client does.

Getting back to the thread, it sounds very much like she's picked them off or she's used an oil based mascara as my lashes are on still, 3.5 wks later (infills tomoz).
IMO, lashes do not just fall off, they need to have the wrong products used - oil based wipes, mascaras, eye makeup remover, or be picked.
I always have the oil free mascara & eyemake up remover in stock & try to retail to clients. I know at least they are wearing/using the right tuff.
She'safter a freebie & I would not give in to her. But you'll have to check what's going on with her lashes first by visiting.
Let us know what happens

Oh i no, it is amazing what people will do for a freebie, lol well stick to your guns. goodluck x

Thought I'd update you all!! Haven't heard anything for her so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that's it. Surely if they had just fallen out like she said, she would be calling me constantly to sort it out?? Me thinks she lied:D

Thanks for all your advice girls, much appreciated xx
