In Flanders Fields, the poppies blow,
between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place, and in the sky
the larks still bravely singing fly.
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead, short days ago.
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
loved and were loved, and now we lie in Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw the torch,
Be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die, We shall not sleep,
Though poppies grow in Flanders fields.

I am so very proud of our Service men and women, May we all remember what they have done for us and the ones who are still fighting for us.

Sincerely;
Janet

Always have my poppies.

Both of my maternal grandparents were in the war.....

This is my Nana, Ruby Marguerite Norman Mac Intosh, as a Motorbike messenger.
I'm very proud of her, and wish she was still here today.

Poppies worn here to - and Nik my second eldest has marched in the Naval Parade today in Gosport.

I can not comprehend the atrocities those men and women had to go through - I certainly won't forget.

If you want to get an idea of what it was like - a book to read

"All quiet on the Western Front" - it broke my heart!

...for those who gave up their 'today' so we could have our 'tomorrow'...xxx

My Poppy was worn with pride as it is every year. Both Mum and Dad used to attend the Rememberance Day Parade every year, for them I will continue to do the same.

Thanks :hug:
I'm especially proud of her.. the battles she fought in her lifetime..

That's my favorite picture in my house. a 'timepiece' showing 3 different vehicles and my Nana....

to think of all those that were lost during those times, I was VERY lucky to have had my Nana, given the job she was doing.

I wish everyone could have been as lucky as myself.

Did they beat the drum slowly, did they play the fife lowly,
did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down?
Did the bands play the last post and chorus?
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest?
