Hi I've nearly finished studying the VTCT level 2 beauty specialist diploma. My assessments are the same as to what the NVQ girls are doing, except remedials but I was advised to go down the beauty specialist route as I would like to go abroad at some point and VTCt is internationally recognised.

My required assessments for eyelash/brow tint are to be carried out on a dark, fair, grey and red head. I'v put another thread on here looking for a red head model and another member has mentioned that I only need to do 2 of these. Is this right? It's just that i'm waiting around now to find a red head model when I could have been finished as I've been doing the course on a flexible basis.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sarah

I would go on to th VTCT website and have a look.

When it comes to your evidence based based assessments, the more you have in your portfolio the better, rather than the bare minimum. Why settle for less when you can be the best!! Don't worry - I'm sure that you will get you red haired model soon!
Good luck with your studies and training

Meridenxx

Thanks for your reply Meriden. In my portfolio I need to have 6 pieces of evidence for each module which I've got. But the assessments that I need to do are actually in class in front of my tutor.
I'll keep looking for the red head though!! and if anyone has any red headed friends in Manchester or Liverpool, please let me know!! x

Shame I'm not a red head (I have fair lashes and brows); might have been interested in being a model especially as I need to get some music gear back from a friend in Manchester.

Thanks anyway luv. I'm having a nightmare finding someone. I've got all my family looking, I've put an ad in my block's reception area, ad on gumtree, ad on here. Just wanna get it finished x

Hi ya i'm doing the same course and having the same trouble finding someone...my tutors said that you have to find a model for each type so one red one fair and one dark i have to find a red head as well. i have put adverts on gum tree and net mums...net mums is a good one as i have lots of people come in for assessments from there maria x

Those redhead models are pretty elusive hey? Might be useful for me to add hair colour as a search option on salon guinea pig when I get a chance, so it will be easy to find the redheads on there?

Hi - I've actually just done my eye treatment stuff and you DO have to do one of each hair colour  But, because my flatmate dyes her hair auburn, she did for my "red" and my "dark" together...:o

I'll have to try net mums, do you think you have to be a mum to go on there??

I wouldn't mind but I took all my own models in for my other assessments to make things easier and I was never told that i needed to find a red head until i'd nearly finished. I thought they would have helped me out with that seen as though they have clients coming in as well but they say they don't have any red headed clients at the moment!!

I thought they had to be natural hair colours not dyed, am I wrong, it's so confusing. I do know a girl who has dyed her hair that looks like a red/ginger colour but I'm sure that won't do x

Sorry sorry sorry, I didn't mean to confuse you - you're right as obviously peoples natural colour determines their lash colour and therefore what tint to use but tbh we were getting a bit desperate for some gingers so we got a bit of, er, leighway.

aww I should have come to your college!! If I get anymore desperate I'll have to stand in the middle of market street and pay someone!! x :wink2:

they are ment to natural hair colours but we have been given a bit a leighway as well as we are so near to finishing. you dont have to be a mum to post on net mums, they have different boards to post on i use the general notice board. Yesterday we went hunting round the college for staff willing to be models you could try that as well. What about asking people on facebook if your on there yoou never know! Or ask some of your class mate if their models would be willing to come in for you.:)

It's a bit difficult cos I'm actually doing the course at a little private college in Liverpool, the other girls that are there are doing the nvq funded by the government and as I go in as and when is possible I don't really know the other girls. Also everyones at different levels so really all I can do is try and find someone myself. I've just spoke to them again and they say they do have one red headed client but they can't get hold of her, oh well, I'll keep looking and I'll try net mums, thanks for that x
ps i tried facebook but only lasted 2 weeks as it drove me mad! x
