Hi - im new to this so please bear with me!

I trained with an IBD instructor in December 2008. She was fantastic and cant fault her. However, without being rude (!) - the other girl on the course wasnt really grasping it at all so the instructors time was spent tryin to help her. As it was an intensive course there wasnt a lot of spare time to deal with problems etc tht should arise.

So, here lies the problem: For the time being im just concentrating on applying white tips with either a pink or clear overlay, using IBD acrylic powders. I feel im fine doing the application and finish of the nails, but having problems when it comes to infills and rebalance. My nails are ALWAYS LIFTING!!! Im having to take off the whole nail and re-apply instead of just infilling. This is ludicrous and impossible for making money.
Whats goin wrong? I am prepping the nails correctly and using primer etc, but within a week the are lifting. The acrylic isnt touchin skin when applied so it cant be that!

Help!!!!

what was the prep you where taught...?

you got there before me lol

we need to know what you prep is honey before we can look at what is causing the problem

Sorry!! The prep i was taught is obv to clean and sanitise nails, trim cuticle where needed, remove shine, dehydrate then use primer, before applyin the acrylic. Is there sumthn else i should be doin?

Hi Kim, you say you trim the cuticle, but the true cuticle is on the nail plate and this is what has to be removed, as if it isn't it will form a barrier between your product and the nail plate and can cause lifting.

I am not familiar with your product and dont know if you perform a wet or dry prep. Sounds like it is a dry prep from what you say, just make sure you use your chisel or curette to remove that cuticle, you'll probably find a big difference.

If I have misunderstood what you have said you do as your prep I am sorry.

hth :)

Are you making sure your primer is completely dry before you start? If it isn't completely dry it may cause the l&p to lift and yellow.

Also, if you are putting the product on too thick around the eponychium and side walls - this could cause lifting.

Thanx!! really appreciate all your help and advice!!
Hopefully guna start on payin customers asap, with the correct insurance (!) so fingers crossed it goes well!!!!!

kim xx
