Hi Geeks

Cos I haven't had much practise with infills, I have left a set of L&P on my nails for a couple of weeks so I can infill them. There has been quite a bit of lifting around the cuticle area so I can practise filing back and infilling, but on one nail there has been lifting down the sidewall, extending across at least a quarter of the nail towards the middle. My question is do I file and repair or is it better to soak off the nail and start again?

Hi darl
To me Id probably assess if the lifting was what id call quiet chronic, you could be filing and filing that sucker and still be left with a line you cannot file away.

If it is at that stage, id pop a soak onto it before I started the infill on the others, then come back to it, and easily remove the soak and replace in due course.

Thanks for your reply, my gut feeling having thought about it is that it's going to carry on right across the nail if I file, as you said, so I am going to take your advice, soak the little blighter off and redo.

why take the easy way out?
perhaps you should try and buff it out just for the fun of it (and the experience), that's what learning is all about.

I have to agree with Carl on this.

It's good experience to get your filing technique sorted with lifting. If you do it correctly, there will be no line showing through afterwards, if there is, it will indicate to you that you have not removed all the lifting properly.

The other thing to address is 'Why' you are getting lifting in the first place. So, concentrate on a thorough prep and check your application & mix ratio is correct - do a search on here as there are zillions of threads about prep & application - plus check out the tutorials on the site too for the same thing.

A little hard work now, makes life a lot easier later on:hug:. xxx

I agree too , file it and learn , the best way to learn is from experience..
depending on how far the lifting has came up , you can see weather u can just file it away or if it gradually comes furthur n furthur up , the you ll know if you need to replace it :p

Happy Learning!

Yep I have to admit the easy way out sounded good, but I do need all the practise I can get, that's for sure, so I am going to reach for the file and have a go.
Thanks Everyone who answered
