Hi Everyone,
Although I have used this site for information for a few years I have just registered today as I need to ask a question!!!
I am a l&p creative girl trained also in brisa but not doing a lot of gel as stick mainly to my comfort zone!. I have just brought some light elegance coloured gel and not been having much luck with it. after a few days it seems to peel off clients nails (nno) sometimes in one whole piece . also getting lot of free edge lifting. have spoken to karen at light elegance and although very hepful i dont want to keep bothering her . was wondering f anyone had had similar probs and what they did to remedy this. thanks guys

Sorry I can't help you with that brand... why did you change from Brisa?.. did you not like it?.
Also I would call Your lady back... she is there to help you and I am sure that she would not mind.. Is there a step by step dvd ( ibd have one.. sometimes i play it just to make sure it is stuck in my head)... Better still ask her if there is a training night/weekend you can attend.
X Mel

Hi I use light elegance coloured gels with no problems at all. Are you building the nail as usual with bonder and builder and then putting the colour over the top while it's sticky before you remove the dispersion layer? Or if you are applying over L & P are you applying it to a buffed surface and not shiny? The first time I used the gel I applied it over a smooth surface and it came off whole.
I use it mostly on my own nails and I apply two coats.

I use Nail Solutions - Simply Nails Coloured Gels - never had this problem.

If you apply the coloured gel too thick - it does not cure properly. Try thinner coats. Also - you could try turning the nails upside down and curing the underneath for another minute or so. I do this with my white gel always.

Is it peeling from the free edge or the cuticle area?

Is it just the coloured gel that is peeling or is the underlying clear base gel peeling.

If you have removed the sticky residue of the basegel (clear or pink) the nails will be shiny - you need to buff off the shine then apply the gel.

If the residue is still on you can apply the colour on top.

Also check your bulbs - maybe you are under curing the gel. or applying it too thick

Thanks for all your replys! did not think it would come that quickly. I think from what you say I am applying gel too thickly. Would you say I need to apply like nail polish thickness wise?. I apply in following method to natural nails:
Prep
Bonder - cure 2 mins
Thin layer of clear gel - cure no wipe
2 coats of coloured gel - cure after each for 2 mins, no wiping
super shiny to finsh and cure.
Do you think I should use my brisa liquid bond and brisa gel as a base instead and finsh with brisa gloss?.

Karen do you use this coloured gel on natural nails or only on enhancements? as my problem seems to be with natural nails, stays on l&p fine!. I feel like i should have stuck with brisa colours, does any one out there use these???

Fogot to say peeling and lifting occurs at free edge first but sometimes the whole nail just comes off in one piece!. Getting upset about this now as like everything to be perfect and hate being worried about this.

are you capping the free edge...??

Hi Karen,
I will call you and arrange to come over as I am wracking my brains trying to get this right. Really want this to work as loads of people requesting it but holding back as I know I cant make them last for more than a few days. Working tomorrow but will call before end of the week. Thanks for being so helpful. xx

No Problem .

Will wait for your call . It is always best when using ANY new system to be shown how to apply it correctly.

I would say about 50% of my clients have colour gels and although iIdo not have any NNO clients some of them have been so long since their new set that they are in fact on their natural nails now. Don't fret it . We will get you there :)

Hi I've been reading all these posts and I have a lot of questions too. I have my costmetology license but never really used it as I started having babies right away, but now as my kids are getting older, I've decided to break into the nail business and have started a little nail business out of my home. I only do uv gel nails and I'm trying different brands to see which I like the best.

I like the Light Elegance colored gels alot! How come nobody seems to know about these and I don't see them in any salons anywhere, only pink and white gels? Just curious... Why are my colored gels not staying really shiny even after the top coat (super shiny)...I'm not cleaning them after the super shiny by the way.

Also, has anyone heard of or used OPI's new gel system yet (axxium)? How does it compare to Brisa and Light Elegance?

Thanks everyone!!!!

Terri

Hi Terri ,

The Super Shiny has a 'sticky ' layer after curing . When you say you do not clean after SS are you still wiping the sticky layer ?

The Super Shiny needs to be applied quite generously. If you apply to thin then you will not get a great shine :)

Can't speak for the USA but we sell loads of the colour gel in the Uk

Hope this helps

Here in the US we use and sell a lot of Light Elegance Gel Polishes. At the trade shows they are usually a huge seller, along with glitter. probably 60-70% of my clients wear gel color or glitter vs pink and whites.

Hi, I've been using the light elegance colored gel polish and a few of my clients it has peeled right off! Help!!! I really want this to work and have been reading all these blogs and I think I'm doing everything right:

take sheen off nail
apply bonder, cure 2 min.
apply clear gel, cure 2 min
apply 2 coats of gel, curing 2 min. between
apply super shiny, cure 2 min. then wipe/cleanse

Does this seem right??? Thanks!! Terri

Yes, your steps are correct. Really make sure your prep is immacualte. You need to rough up the nail just a tiny bit and also take off all the shine.
One thing might be your UV lamp. What are you using? You should have a 9 w lamp, preferably a tunnel lamp. Change your bulbs and make sure you are using a good brand. At light elegance we sell SLI bulbs, they have been tested extensively and they are the best. Sylvania and Philips are also good. Anything else is not so great(chinese bulbs and Ocius).
