British model Elizabeth Jagger, daughter of rock star Mick Jagger, has been unveiled as the new face of a nationwide sun safety campaign.

It is hoped that the SunSmart initiative, a partnership between health and cosmetic retailer Superdrug and Cancer Research, will encourage people to get to know their skin type and adopt a safer sun approach. The latest figures from the charity show that men’s cancer rates have doubled in the last 30 years with now more than 1100 (3.1 per 100,000) deaths from the disease.

It’s thought the high profile of Jagger, whose images will appear online and in-store, will boost the promotion of Superdrug activities throughout the summer. The company is offering free skin cancer risk assessments at its stores, as well as holding fundraising activities.
