I'm quite new to mobile and am desperately trying to build up some clients, I now have a lovely website thanks to Ruth and I am having some leaflets designed and am hoping to post out around 1000 a week myself.

We have 2 local magazines that are mainly full of advertising, was thinking about putting an ad in one of these but costs £49 for one month or £29pm if I sign up for 12 months.

Has anyone had any luck with this kind of advertising, the magazine goes out to around 10,000 homes a month and I can change my advert monthly if I wish to do different offers etc, it just seems alot when Im not earning much BUT if it got me new clients then would be worthwhile.

Thanks
AJ x

I think its massively dependant on the magazine and the area.

My own salon has advertised in magazines, newspapers and even on the radio and had terrible responses.

But then I've designed adverts for people who have advertised in mags and had a great response (god that sounded big-headed!- it wasnt just cos of the design! :))

I wouldnt ask the person selling the advertising the response rates (As I wouldnt trust a media-salesperson as far as I could thrown them) but rather- get hold of the last edition (or even better the one before) and ring a few of the people advertising in there...im sure they'd be happy to tell you if they got a response or not.

Awesome advice!!!

phoning people up is a good idea, though if they aren't the same kind of business as you then they could get a different response to what you would. i think i would try one months advertising (it's only £50 after all) and see what response you get. you could always decide then after that month if it is something you would like to be a regular in. are the house holds the same each month? because i'd wonder if it would be worth doing it monthly as surely if somebody was interested in the services they would have saved the booklet/the advert for future reference? i'd also be interested to know what areas the mag goes out to and to see if anybody is offering what you are wanting to offer in that same area too and check out their prices

there is lots of dif ways to advertise, some that are free there was a thread on here i'm sure it was by lynne the lady with the black and white photo up -not sure of her full user name or thread title but if you do a search for it i'm sur eyou will find it. it was packed full of advertising tips! x
