It sounds like this is where we'll be heading soon in England. How will our businesses cope though this?! 😔

I don't know how small businesses are going to survive another lockdown. The BBC headline says 'lasting a month' I am wondering if I should contact all my clients I have booked in for November to re-book them in for December. At this point I can only hope that I can continue to sell gift vouchers for Christmas and hope that I can work a few weeks in December. Guess we will just have to wait to see what is announced at 5pm.

Hi,
Does this new lockdown apply to home based salons. I’m presuming yes, but just need clarification.
Thanks, Victoria x

I'm guessing there's no guidelines yet but I'm assuming all salons will need to close, home based or otherwise?

Yes I thought as much. Let’s hope it’s not as long as the first x

It is so sad this is happening again but I think we all saw it coming.
I can only hope that we can reopen as planned on 2nd December all ready for the Xmas rush!
I’m debating whether to get clients booked from that date or to hold off until we know for sure like I did in the first lockdown, what is everyone doing?
Good luck everyone, stay safe.

Hi, I've decided to re-book clients from 3rd December as it says if the R rate is low enough we will move back to regional tiers. If we are still locked down then I will just have to move all appointments again to Jan and beyond. I would rather have all my bookings in for December and not have a mad rush of trying to book everyone in a couple of days before. I am hoping to also keep selling gift vouchers for Christmas. I'm home based and assume clients are still allowed to collect or I can deliver them?
Good luck to everyone, let's hope it's just a month x

Holding. No point in booking them in just to have to move them all around. It'll be a rush either way, I'm only doing it once.

I think it creates disappointment and frustration to have a booking then have to change it. It's certainly how I felt about my own personal appointments (dentist, hairdresser, etc.) so it's a 'wait and see' approach from me.

I’ve spent today calling and messaging my clients, I’m mobile hairdresser and most have been happy to rebook for Dec, stating that fingers crossed we can start back as planned! some already had their xmas slot booked already so are just waiting for that one and just missing one cut between now and then?! Sucks as some of them have only just felt brave enough to get a cut since last lockdown and now I have to cancel them again!

I agree, think i’ll hold off too. Fingers crossed for December 🤞

The same as you it’s such a nightmare done my last one a week ago who had not had it done since feb and now it starts again , managed to completely fill Monday tues wed 8am -8.30pm it’s going to be a loooooong three days , and some happy to wait till hopefully return date x

I've already got bookings in from 2nd December up until Christmas so I'm leaving these as they are but just not booking anymore in. Everyone who has to cancel in the next month I've just told I'll work all hours i can to fit them in once we have a definite date but for some of them it's just a case of missing their November appointment and coming to their December one as they come every 4 weeks anyway. Hopefully lots of gift vouchers and gift set sales to get me through!

Me too. I booked today up in no time at all. Long three days ahead. Then just have to wait and see if we can open from the 2nd, or the lockdown is extended. I really hope not. Good luck everyone x

Just a quick question it states that we could work from home.
I just started my mobile work does that mean i can visit clients at their homes even with full ppe?

If you look at the post by the NHBF up above, it states 'including mobile services' 😊

No we cannot work, not mobile, not home salon, not Street salon - personal services are closed. Please see quote below:-
