hiii, i have only just recently joined salon geek and i find it really interesting reading everyones different tips and ideas! so i was just wondering if anyone could help me with a problem i have had for a while with the majirel colour range. I can never seem to get a clients hair looking that silvery blonde that a lot of young girls like! i have tried all the ashy tones, bleaching and i can never get it looking really really silvery blonde, so any ideas off anyone would be great!! X

bleach evenly and then tone with p01 luo colour, always works for me ! a nice crisp white blonde

I have just bought the Luo Color P01 and developer to do a strand test. My clients hair is bleached to a creamy colour with alot of yellow tones on the mid lengths and ends (which I am unable to bleach further due to her damaged hair).

Can I just ask what colour you bleached to and if it neutralized any yellow tones?

I will get a cutting from her hair today or tomorrow but wondering what the result will be. Ive never used L'oreal colours but was recommended the Luo Pastel from a friend and the girl in the wholesalers.

Thanks. x

May not help, btu I think Wella lift a lot lighter than L'oreal

Do you mean Wella Koleston Hi-lift tint (12/ ) ? Those shades are not recommended to tone bleached hair. Certain shades of level 9 and 10 are specially to tone bleached hair but there is not much choice when it comes to toning yellow hair. I have tried 10/16 (ash-violet) and it turned grey. x

Sorry I mis-read post...

Hi, Dream lover just a suggestion....
but do some test pieces on this first ....

I think you would get a better result if you spent some time with a thick conditioner and talc mix .... picking out and wrapping tightly all those whiter bits of hair in foils to protect them as much as you possibly can, you can do this by extra folding in half then fold the sides in as usual .... then fold over and over again till its quite tight and wont move about
(its only talc and conditioner so you don't have to worry about marks)

then go in and bleach up those yellow parts to a creamy blonde then rinse the bleach from between foils being very careful no bleach gets inside those foils .... if it does rinse towel dry and apply a new foil with conditioner and more talc mix

then towel dry off and apply 0/6 wella colour fresh silver based toner to freshly bleached hair only .... roots first ends last,

( you dont need to tone the white bits ) they will look very nice on the new cooler hair tones ,

This procedure is time consuming but I think it will be worth while doing
as it will get rid of those yellow problems once and for all ,

do you think there's a possibility of weaving out all of those white bits ?

there may minor strands of of breakage,
but it should be very minimal depending how well you can wrap and protect the white hair against the bleach ?...
Ps .... you may need her to sign a disclaimer

do some test pieces first to see what results you get on the yellow parts
and time it well ,

Also Dream lover .... proclere toners are very mild toners that do not produce grab
and as you know if you use anything stronger on very white bleached hair you will always run the risk of grab .....
also if you use peroxide based toner each time you try another..... you are simply risking the condition of those whiter bits and breakage may occur.

This lady needs a good maintenance programme from the pureoligy range especially if she is always shampooing her hair !.
as no toner will hold as you are finding out yourself ....

ask persianista about the pureology range as it helps colour from fading

plus ..... you are always going to have problems with those white bits until they grow out !

also until it grows .....
you can always spend some more time weaving out some white bits again throughout the top and protect them in foil before toning the whole head again so it wont grab
hth a bit more :) minky

I must admit, I don't think anything in majirel is great for pastel toning. I generally look to other ranges for toning over bleach, specifically Shades EQ by Redken.

Hey tinkerbell, sorry I went and hijacked this post for Dreamlover and the yellow hair again lol .... but anyways it may have helped a bit with toning

I love using 0/6 wella color fresh silver for the palest shade of silvery blonde,
after bleaching up to a creamy pale blonde first towel dry and apply 0/6 color fresh silver toner to damp hair, roots first for ten , ends last for five or ten depending on what results you want
viola ..... a beautiful white silvery blonde
:) minky

Thanks Minky for your suggestion :)

Her hair is more of a creamy colour than white. The yellow bits are in between and patchy so it would be very difficult to pick out and foil the creamy blonde hair.

I wouldnt want to risk anymore breakage as the ends of her hair are like chewing gum when wet so further bleaching is not an option I would consider until her hair recovers a little.

I have already toned with Proclere Herbal Platinum and all it done was made the yellow colour a beige then washed out the next time she washed her hair.

The is not much choice in Wella Pastel tones when it comes to neutralizing yellow hair. I have already tried the 10/16 so the other ash tones would probably turn her hair grey too.

I'm hoping the Luo Color P01 will do the trick. The colour on the chart was a lovely white silvery blonde and is used to tone bleached and yellow hair. I've never used L'oreal colours so not sure what to expect.

I'm not sure how the wella colour fresh 0/6 would turn out on creamy/yellow hair. I think it would also wash out as quick as I done it? x

hey minky hav u used wella colour fresh /86? wat result do u achieve??:D

nah colour fresh 4 sure!:D hav u used it dreamlover?

bleach evenly and then tone with p01 luo colour, always works for me ! a nice crisp white blonde

Ive just done 2 test pieces with Luo Colour P01. I washed one after 5 minutes and the other after 10 minutes. Both turned out silver, no white blonde at all. I don't think my client would like/suit a full head silver :suprised:

What to do next :(

ahhh thanks dreamlover u help me out lol sorry i cnt b ov any help to u though... perhaps the 9 n a halfseries in shwartzkopf igora they designd 4 toning and a good number of pasxtel n warmissh shades 2 choose frm...its all i got hun hth:hug: othawise if u can get ur hands on redken shades eq frm ur rep totaly side with persianista never failed!!!!!:D:D

I can't get hold of the redken EQ shade. I've seen them on Ebay but not the silver and platinum shades I would need.

I think her hair is going to turn grey/silver no matter what toner I put on. It's so porous so soaks up the base colours. Ive seen alot of young girls with the silver colour but I was hoping for a light blonde with a silver tone to it. I might try bleach + 10vol and add a bit P01 colour, it might work a bit better. I'm just running out of ideas :(
