Hi all

I'm afraid I'm losing heart in nails. I have been doing nails since 2005 but still not had the break I need to get me off n running.
I got my license this year and wanted to get my own salon going, but I just can't seem to bring the clients through the door.

I have advertised and did a leaflet drop with special offers but it's just not working. I try to do more courses when I can but being in a country I can't speak the language it isn't easy.

I just think there are so many doing nails round here that no-one wants to change and being in this situation (army wife) I just find it hard. I have also found that I am now taking longer to do a set which wouldn't be good if I was gonna go back to the UK and find work in a salon.

Sorry for the post I just needed to vent my sadness about something I love so much. I just wish I had half the talent of you guys.

Thanks
Angela

I have been working since 2005 and I have moments when I've got clients and moments when I don't have any for a week! I kid you not!! What keeps me going is I enjoy doing nails, no matter how often I get to do them.

This may sound a bit 'wishy washy' but think about the type of energy you are sending out into the universe. There are a number of nail techs and other business people failing b/c they're negative. Negative in their outlook, negative in their conversation, negative in their way of being (even if they fake being positive... negative energy oozes out of them). Just food for thought.

Any and every client coming to see you is a positive :green:

As for your times. Don't stress. In many of the threads you will find people are taking up to 2hrs to do sets. Your time is what it is and may improve over time but stressing about it changes nothing.

Just remember (this is what I think about when I have 'I should give up my day job' moments like what you're having)... you have a skill you have learned and trained to do. It is not something every one can do & you offer this service to them.

Hi doll

Im sorry to hear you feeling so low.. I bet you do a great set off nail.. What about the other army wife, cant you offer to do there nails at a discount and this would be advertisment for you. Cheer up and hope things work out for you. xx

Thanks for the replys folks.

I am quite an outgoing person no-one that meets me thinks I'm fed-up or low as I usually seem bubbly.
I have offered discounts and freebies to mates just to get my work out there.
I think I may wait til I move back to the UK (which is sometime later this year) and try starting up there new face n all.

Thanks for the comments though I appreciate them

In the first place, you have more than half the talent of 'you guys' !! :green:

You do perfectly acceptable salon nails judging from your album images.

How they last I cannot tell you as only you know that.

You know, it is possible for someone to be in the wrong place!! The nail techs in Spain who do not speak Spanish also do not have the clients!! You need more than an EXpat clientèle to thrive in a country that is not your own, unless you have a monopoly on the business in the area.

So accept your position for what it is and if you can improve it then do so; if not, then it may not be your time or place just now. But don't blame yourself for it unless you are to blame.

If it were me, I'd certainly use your spare time to learn the language though. Clients are great to practice speaking the language. You never know, your German teacher may be a great source of potential German clients!!

Thank you Gigi

I appreciate what you said and think yes most of it your right.... no actually all of it your right.

I should learn the language, I have been trying and most of my friends are German, however, the area's the army place you always seem like "little britain" and you don't need to learn the language as most of the locals speak English.

I just hope my small loyall clientele keep with me and I hope hubbys posting order comes through soon then I can try again although the UK isn't doing too well just now.

Thanks again for your comments
