While at work, I've been telling clients about the hazzards of MMA, and boy - not one of them knew what I was on about until - I mentioned those salons that use drills, masks, can't speak English etc - anyway after I said that, they all knew what I meant, so I've now educatated them as to what to look out for.

One client said that she, plus all her mates at work use these salons, but - I'm pleased to say that she said that she would be bringing all her mates to me - yey - plus - she was so thrilled with the nails I did for her that she then said " I don't tip - I'd rather buy you a gift" - she works on an Estee Lauder counter, so is getting me some skin care products as "a thankyou" - I'm well chuffed.

I've just got my boss to convert from OPI to CND - yey!! - and all the clients that have come in with OPI on their nails, can SEE the diff with the CND products - they all said that the OPI looked cloudy (I thought this too, but didnt say)

So I'm now buzzing - as ya do!

I had a client yesterday who worked at Birmingham Airport and said she and alot of her collegues went to the NSS salons in town. She asked me what I thought of them

I explained all about the MMA and the files they use and she didnt have a clue either. She asked why all these places were packed everytime she walked past them, I explained that the general public are not as aware as they should be about MMA etc.

Hopefully by educating her, she can pass on the advice to her friends and after she went away with a set of custom blends (on bitten nails) she may even recommend a few to me too :green:

WELL DONE G......what a lovely thought to bring you a gift from Estee lauder...you lucky thing!....:)

You know what, I think this is wonderful. We need to educate clients as to what they should look for and what they should avoid.

BUT....... it is for this reason that I cant undestand for the life in me why the Safe Salons website and organisation has had such a bad response from a lot of techs. One of the big reasons I joined this site is because I think it can sometimes sound like sour grapes when I tell my clients why they should avoid NSS and how to spot an NSS, and for me to be able to say "dont just take my word for it, check this website, they are an independant body", is really valuable.

Sorry to take this off track a little, but I think its wonderful that we are educating our clients, and I dont understand why an organisation that can and will help us to do this has not been well received.

The girl I am using as my model for my assement usually goes to those places too. Her nails have been left in a state. She said it hurt when they went on and when they came off. SO I told her about mma and she is going to use me once I am qualified.

Good for you G:hug: I remember a client coming to me and saying how profecional she thought those nss looked, with their masks on:rolleyes: So I said,
Were you wearing a mask? only if its not safe for them to breath the dust in then it can't be safe for you, can it:eek: I love making people think, its good for them:green:
