Hiya Geeks,

Im a lasher  and need to purchase a magnifying lamp, one that maybe stands alone or can be clamped to the couch. Has anyone got any suggestions as to which is the best? I really want one as big as possible but unsure what strength magnifying to get, is it best to get one from a beauty suppliers if so which one. Also, of course, I need it to be a reasonable cost :). I keep thinking that one of these welder mask type headgear magnifier would be good but havent a clue where to get one of those from, I tried the head magnifier which looked a bit like glasses but they were useless as they started too far from my eyes and I had too much peripheral vision!!!!!!

Anyway any advise much appreciated, thanks geeks

Hi Claudia,

I bought one of these a few weeks ago as my eyesight (amongst other things)! ain't what it used to be! Especially for such close up work as lashes.

I bought the naturalight 5" magnifying lamp. It comes with an energy saving light bulb which has a great light although clients have commented it's just too bright when placed directly above them so I angle it to the side slightly.

I mainly bought it for the magnifying bit but just can't get to grips with it. My great friend who is always the poor guinea pig for anything new was the first victim! I couldn't tell how far away things were under the magnifying glass so kept poking her in the face with my tweezers. I found that looking at the lashes and glue with my "normal" eyes then changing to looking at the lashes under the glass a bit tiring on my eyes but maybe I just need to get used to it.

It comes with a table clamp which I thought would clamp onto the side of my therapy bed. However, it wouldn't quite fit so I had to then buy the stand. In a way this is better as I can wheel it out of the way into the corner when not in use.

I bought it from Sally's and they were great, saying I could try it for a few days then bring back for a refund if I didn't like it. I've decided to keep it as I feel the pros outweigh the cons.
Here's a link (maybe that's all you needed rather than my in depth review)! LOL

Thank you, I really apreciate the advice, I shall have a lil look, I like the idea of a light aswell as it does get harder to find those blinkin lashes
