Hi all

I am starting up doing make up and have been building my box up with MAC as I favour it and I love the results..

Personally any make up ranges I have seen in the beauty warehouses havent been much cop but thats just what I have seen so along with the MAC I have purchased especially I tend to use a few other brands but decent ones like Pout and Borjois, going back to comments about a nail tech using a Revlon polish and a few geeks suggesting its more professional to use salon products does anyone think using make up that I have purchased in this way would be un professional as its mainly MAC but is available outside of warehouses?

I hope that makes sense..

I have a professional set up and brushes and huge aluminium box so look the part but just want some feedback.. I always use disposables etc and i have my own selection of MAC make up so am not using what I use on clients.

I just think that its better to use something you are happy using yourself as you know the product.

Or if anyone knows of any really good ranges out there that they could recommend I try?

MAC is a pro range. They dont sell it to us mere make up artists at a discount if they didnt want us to use it!!

I use barry M, Taxi and GOSH too for proms, high fashion photo shoots/catwalk shows.

Also have benefit, smashbox, sephora and stila - all high street brands.

Just about to buy the entire paula dorf and susan posnick kit too, as there excellent.

Use what you like, with make up as long as the pigments strong and the make up lasts then clients dont care what you use.

The only time I wouldnt use high street products is for general beauty treatments such as waxing, facials or extensions.

Clients like you using what they can purchase on the high street so they can keep the look going at home, and make up on the high street is excellent.

Most top make up artists use a bit of everything so don't worry about sticking to any one brand or pricerange.
