Hi all,

I'm looking to set up as a local make up artist and I wondered if anyone had any recommendations or advice as to which course is best. So far I like the looks of the LCBT Day/Evening/Bridal Make Up certificate and the Carlton Institute course. I'm not a beginner (have had instore training and experience etc), and so your thoughts would be appreciated?

I can do Birmingham or London, evenings and weekends.

Thanks
LJ

Hi LJ,

I've no experience of any training for make-up (other than my ITEC which was a bit basic) but like you I have been looking at taking it further. I have spent 6 months trying to decide which one of these to go with:

LCBT
AOFM
Jemma Kidd Academy
London College of Fashion
London School of Beauty & Make-Up
Fashion Face TV

In the end I chose Samantha Chapman from FFTV as she is a well established and respected MUA and I feel that I will learn a lot from her. I'm booked on her February course so I will let you know how I get on if you can wait that long!

Thanks Em, good to know there are others in the same boat! FFTV looks good but a little expensive for me right now.... Have you heard any reviews of the LCBT as I think I'm leaning towards there?

Sorry but I've not heard of anyone that's been there. I know someone that's been to the Jemma Kidd School and another thats been to the AOFM and they both have a good rep.

Try posting this on the 'Makeup Advice Forum' website, there are loads of MUA's on there so they may know.

OMG There's loads to to do in Windsor lol!!! It's a massive tourist attraction  That probably shouldn't be the basis for choosing a course though lol!
