Hi everyone. I am a newbie to this site and am looking for advice on intimate male grooming. I have been considering it for some time but have reservations and concerns.

Firstly, I have never even stepped foot in a salon before other than to pick my wife up! Secondly I have never even shaved there before as I have never been brave enough. I have very sensitive skin anyway so will that make my 'extra sensitive parts' even worse - could there be a reaction? I have also heard stories about the scrotum "tearing" (ouch!) and of course there is the typical worry about the embarrassing issue of becoming aroused :o , which is a definite concern, especially first time.

Can anyone help put my mind at rest and explain the process a little more and any guys reading this, can you enlighten me and convince me it is all worth it??

And of course, any recommendations around the lancashire/greater manchester area would be helpful too.

Thanks
Darrel

Hi Darrel,

Male intimate waxing is a service that is becoming increasingly popular. Please ensure though that if you do decide to go ahead with your waxing that you choose a salon/individual who is certified to carry out this service. You can also have a patch test conducted to ensure that any reactions are minimised.

In terms of tearing the scrotum during waxing, this would happen if the skin isn't properly supported during wax removal and any professional waxer will know exactly what to do.

There are a few of us male waxers around the North West - me in Cheshire and Jen Smith in Todmorden (she maybe nearer to you). Sorry I don't know any others but I have pm'd you with details of a website where you will find more details of male waxers.

Hi there!
I would say firstly, pick a good salon and go down there for a consultation.
Everyone has a slight reaction to waxing and it varies in different people. Usually for the first 24hrs it can be slightly warmer tahn normal and can feel a little sore.
I wont lie by telling you this is pain free as it definately is not that! So i very much doubt you will get aroused.
The horror stories you hear are usually caused by therapists that dont have much experience and of course, those that are not even qualified. So i would go down to somewhere like virgin or saks. They will make you feel really comfortable and remember, they hav seen it all before! And more to the point will answer all of your questions.
Good luck hun!

Thanks - did you have to wish me luck!!! lol

Hiya. I specialise in mens intimate waxing and they all tell me that the chest is more painful. It shouldn't be too painful if they use a good non strip wax. Others may disagree but I wouldn't go to anyone that uses strip wax on the scrotum.

The benefits of intimate waxing are cleanliness and it heightens sensitivity.......so, happy days.

Enjoy! xx

Can anybody help me. Im trying to find someone in ymarea for male intimate waxing. I have had it done before but cant find anybody nearer to me.

If you try this link ---> Find a therapist This site lists qualified techs that specialise in male waxing and there is an abundance of information for first time waxing too.

Darrel,

"Should I?" If you've been considering it for some time then you clearly find the idea of being smooth and hair-free appealing in which case you definitely should!

As a veteran receiver of waxing, intimate and everywhere else, I can assure you that the feeling of being completely smooth is great and most of those who experience it would never go back to being hairy. Yes, it does hurt a bit, but nowhere near as much as is sometimes made out. Kim is quite right (as always) that the chest is more painful for many men than the genitals.

Erections? You may experience some arousal but it is unlikely to last long and shouldn't be a problem as long as your behaviour to the therapist is 'correct' and respectful.

The other advice above is good too. Find a properly trained, experienced waxer - one who uses hard wax rather than strip wax. I've had both types and there is a big difference - I would never go back to strip wax for these intimate areas. The skin on the scrotum is vey thin and it can be torn if treated roughly or carelessly. This happened to me once when visiting a therapist (in France) who used strip wax but certainly won't happen to you if you find the right therapist.

I can personally recommend Jen Smith at the Hot Wax Room in Todmorden who was meticulous in waxing me.

If you have any other questions please feel free to email me.

Enjoy the experience (if you can) and enjoy the result.

:)

Ian - thankyou, you have put my mind at ease. I have been directed to a website where it appears that Jen Smith is closest to me so I will contact her on your recommendation(!! - no pressure!).

Thanks again - <deep breath> I'll go for it!

Go on give Jen call, she is lovely and will take good care of you,
(and it will make you look bigger in that area once waxed :wink2:)

Really?? well, if I wasn't convinced already, I am now!! :)

I have it done regularly too (OK I'm a transvestite but what the hell); my therapist always uses the "hot wax" on me for those areas rather than strip wax, as strip wax would hurt like hell whereas the hot wax is not so bad... it does feel a lot better when everything is nice and smooth :)

So yes, go for it!

I had to put my Glasses on after reading this thread title as I thought it said something rather rude. Squint at it and you'll see what I mean.

Darrell

Unfortunately I live in the U.S so I cant recomend a place.
However I'm a male waxologist/waxing specialist/waxer whatever its called but I have a license to do waxing here in New York.

To answer your questions.
First are you taking any medications for diabetes, blood thinners, high blood pressure or any skin ailments/conditions.

The procedure is like this. I'll describe it as I wax my clients. I don't know how its done in the UK.

I have the client come in and fill in a consent form. I then have him get undressed and lay on the table. Well depending on whats waxed. If its a brazilian, he just takes off his pants.

I don't use towels to cover him as I need access. I apply a skin cleanser to the area(s) being waxed then I apply a thin coat of oil. I then apply the wax, I use hard wax for sensitive skin and strip wax for not so sensitive parts.
As to scrotum tearing, its very rare, I pull the scrotal skin taut when I remeove the wax. I wont lie to you, it hurts when the hair is being pulled out.
Is it worth it. Alot of guys think so. A lot of jocks like it. Prevents jock itch etc.
What if you get OMG an erection. Well I prefer it, the shaft is easier to wax then. Its no big deal if you do. It happens. Hope that helps.
